Hey guys. Been absent lately so just checking in. Nothing wrong, I've just had something in the works for a year or so and it's finally coming together, so I needed to keep my online presence limited for a bit. Should be back in the mix this week or next. Probably just being overly cautious, but I can't afford to take any chances. Happy Fathers Day to everyone! Hope you guys score some cool stuff.5 points

My most recent project was crawlspace remodeling. ha ha. my 20 year Air conditioner bit the dust last summer, so It was time to upgrade. I just finished helping a friend install a new package unit heat pump with emergency heat strips. But, since I was taking out the old main trunk and ductwork from my crawlspace, there was a lot more work to do. I had to remove the old gas furnace/blower unit, evaporator coil, and dehumidifier from the crawlspace. I sealed all the plumbing and electrical penetrations from under the house. I had a few plumbing repairs to make. Had to install a new dryer vent line. I had to make overflow lines for the hot water heater drain pan and safety relief valve(previously they just dumped under the house. I hauled 2000 lbs of debris out from under the house. I had to properly secure the plumbing and electrical lines to the joists. I put down a new vapor barrier, then paid some guys to insulate the floor. Then I helped a buddy from work install a new Heat pump. It was a fun job. needless to say, I am tired of crawlspaces, and crawling around on my hands and knees. I did purchase some duluth trading cargo pants with kneepad pockets. Best investment I made for this project. I found I like the neoprene pads better than the foam ones. Oh, I should add that I have become a bosch fanboy. I have become fully vested in their 18V cordless lineup. Drill/driver, circular saw, jigsaw, reciprocating saw, impact driver, oscillating tool, Hammer drill/driver. I love their stuff, but Bosch NA is slow to bring everything the rest of the world gets, over here. And it seems they are slower than other cordless power tool companies with innovations in new tools. Garage (car) wise, I have some tekton wrenches, crafstman socket set, and some random harbor freight stuff. I don't have the cash to invest in a big air compressor and impacts yet.3 points

Boy would I have one hell of a time trying to convince the wife of that purchase. "Really honey, it's for making sure the pool temp is perfect...and just think of what else we can do with it!"... This is a test of the American Broadcast System. For the next 60 seconds the sound you will hear will be the sound a cast-iron frying pan makes against the human skull.2 points

The Craftsman sale at Ace was still going on, so I snagged one of the magnetic torpedo levels for $2.99: I don't know when I'll need it, but for three bucks why not have it. I also built myself an industrial strength power strip out of spare parts: 14/3 computer power cord garbage-picked at work, other components scrounged out of a junk drawer.2 points

I haven't even remembered to take an actual photo of this, just a screenshot from a quick video. I bought this from KCTOOL! This style is popular is Europe so i wanted to give it a try, I like it better than the standard pipe wrench ..2 points

I'm sure you meant to mention it but the blow to the head may have caused you to forget lol. A good " technical" excuse is you can spot where the home is losing heat during the winter and where you're losing cool air in the house during summer. Honestly I stopped at the local pawn shop and they had it and thanks to the Father's Day sale I got it for 41 plus tax. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Well now, that takes care of that, doesn't it. We can't talk to you anymore, you're too far above us poorly peasants. It was nice knowing you, at least now I can tell people I knew you way back when... Nobody will believe it1 point

I've been there. Used to be into helicopters back in the day (dear God that was 25 years ago...I'm so frickin' old...). Had a couple of Hirobo Shuttles (one is probably still hanging out in an enormous pine tree), a Bell Ranger "Airwolf", others I can't recall. The radios alone were un-Godly expensive. Wish I still had that Airwolf though, that thing was a beast but it was fun to fly. Didn't buy tools today but finally added the high-flow couplers to my air line. Had to pick up a coupler from Menard's because I had everything I needed but a female for the end of the air line. Funny but I think Legacy makes them all because the Legacy (Flexzilla) couplers fit the Menard's one perfectly. And...just in case anybody wants to know...you definitely do see an increase in air flow with the high-flow couplers. I kept thinking to myself that the small difference in the openings wouldn't be discernible...I was wrong. Air flows quite well now, and I'm impressed by how obvious it is.1 point

I completely agree. SK really needed a high tooth count ratchet and they came out with a great design. I'm certain they did their homework and can probably show lots of market research showing that the core of their intended demographic prefers a smoother handle, but me personally, I've got to have some type of knurling. The LP90 very closely mimics Wright's handle design which I never got into for the same reason. However, I suspect we'll see comfort grips and a slew of other options in the near future.1 point

At the moment? Railroad Conductor. Been at it going on 14 years now, so pretty much my entire adult life. Was once a premier job in my area, but with all the complexities of the coal market, it's been a rough couple of years. In 6 months I might have a different answer, just never know.1 point

I use mine all the time. I even use it to check the pool temp. Before I got the 62 Max+, I used my 59 Max+ to document the temperature of my dashboard at noon in July.1 point

This is so wrong on so many levels and with it being 7' up in the air in makes it more concerning. I can not tell from the picture is the ledger lagged or ledger locked to the house. Please don't say it just nailed to the house if so it's just and accident waiting to happen. My question would be how did this pass a framing inspection. Down load a copy of this. It is the wood Deck construction guide based on the international residential code. http://www.awc.org/pdf/codes-standards/publications/dca/AWC-DCA62012-DeckGuide-1405.pdf1 point

I have Milwaukee M28 and M12, a full compliment, sds, combi and impact. I have a Dewalt 54 Volt sds, plus a 996 and an 887. Now AvE releases a vid of the Hilti 22 Volt combi drill and I find myself wanting one of those! Darn it! Will it ever end?1 point

I made a video, thought I'd give the vlog style a shot, incorporate a few tools into the mix as well, any critiques, feel free to share... I want to expand on this, give an insight into what this trade involves and include the tools of the trades as well... We'll see where this takes me... .1 point

Well big fans of big fans still need to buy teal it seems but I won't know if I'm a big fan of this little fan until I know how the CFM compares to my Milwaukee, which is a little fan that I'm not a big fan of.1 point

I have gone to the dark side: I've always wanted a set of box end ratchets but never quite enough to shell out the green. HF is having one of their 20% coupon deals, and the set was under $20 with tax, so let's see how they are. The chroming is good, but they're awfully thin, and the 12mm is larger than the 13mm. Whaddya expect, I guess. We'll see how they do. Of course where there's a wrench set, there's another one of these: Not as nice as the others. The piece of firewood I picked out that I thought was ash turned out to be something softer, maybe silver maple. But it gets the job done, I guess. The 12mm and 13mm look funny together. Speaking of toolbox organization, the rest of my Goliath socket rails arrived today, so now I have my sockets drawer organized: Metric on the left, SAE on the right.1 point

we cope all inside corners, unless its square stock only,,.inside corners are rarely 90 degrees, especially after receiving tape and joint compound, you will have less chance of seeing sheetrock behind joint after wood shrinks.1 point
