  3. Not really a shop update again, but.... http://jrsknives.com/products/neckr-number-5-kydex-sheath I bought this knife the other day, it came in today, from Jr's Knives. I have been trying my hand at instagram and saw one of our members repost, whatever the heck that is, a giveaway for one of his knives. I bought this knife and I've got some initial impressions. Naturally this thing cost an arm and a leg but it's an American craftsman made knife that will hopefully last a lifetime. The knife I bought is a Neckr model with walnut burl handles and is quote striking to look at. It comes with a kydex sheath. Although I haven't cut Anything with it, I have developed some initial impressions of the knife and sheath. I spent a $145 on the knife and it seems solidly built with an incredible finish. The knife will need a light honing but is quite sharp. The sheath is meh. No belt loops or slots and it appears to be designed to be used with a g-clip (I seriously don't know what the heck that is, I looked on Amazon and it's some type of Molle like system. I will say the sheath is solid and holds the knife in place quite well. I will not be carrying this on a Molle type carrier though my tac rifle vest would support it. My purpose for this guy will be an EDC rescue tool and the thickness of the blade shows this will be well suited for the task. We will see how it fares in the shop too but if I remember I'll try to do a review after some real world use. I will say, this guy seems like a well made investment in a tool that should hold up quite well to some serious use. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  4. Well got more flexvolt, it might be a dud but still should do the job for the right price and a free battery to boot! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. When I was doing a gut renovation on my current house all crews cleaned up after themselves before leaving at the end of the day. Then I stayed and cleaned up even further. A neat job site goes a long way with crews and inspectors. At my job all tools get put away at the end of the day, then we sweep and clean in the morning. We also are lucky to have guys that sweep our area during the day and pick up scraps. When the shop is rolling we probably fill 2 40 yard containers a day with various scraps. My home shop can get a bit messy at times, but I always clean up before starting new projects.

  7. I am gonna have some sort of sliding drawers on one side an shelves with doors on the other side. Still deciding the configuration. I looked at weatherguards pack rat things. There actually somewhat reasonbly priced. They seem expensive but if you add up the materials an your time there not that expensive. I am just not happy with there sizes for my needs. If I didn't have access to metalworking equipment I would just buy one, an make do.

  8. We own the apartments behind the current project and drag a single cord 150 ft for a compressor or chop saw/table saw. Just do not care to charge batteries at the same time to prevent tripping the breaker or voltage drop damage.

  10. I'm with you there. It's not like I am going to host a dance party with it... it is just for having in the garage at I am tinkering with something or in the yard messing around.

  15. @framer do you prefer bags or just a pile of tools rolling around the box of your truck?

  16. I keep mine in a DS300 with a rip fence, speed square, vac attachment, and another half a dozen blade. Only difference between it in a 300 and 400 is a tray above the saw that does very little for me; there's already room around the saw for accessories.

  17. A few years back we started hearing rumblings about Lithium Air batteries being the next big thing, but nothing ever came of it. Performance aside, if the average less informed consumer, professional or otherwise, is standing in the store and has to make a choice between a 40V or 60V OPE tool or an 18V OPE tool, price point and quality being similar, he's going to grab the higher voltage tool 9 out of 10 times. It matters little that peak performance of those tools are pretty much the same, because the vast majority of buyers never look into it that far. It's easy to forget that we as a community of enthusiastic tool users represent the best informed 1% of tool buyers. I suspect that, as always, Milwaukee will rely on heavy marketing to stay in the race long enough to wow us with something "better". Despite what they might like us to believe, I can't help but feel Milwaukee was caught off guard by Flexvolt. Maybe not, but I certainly get that feeling.
