  1. Yeah flexvolt doesn't sell to the Oldies. They hate change and won't pull that credit card out untill their 1990 miter finally gives out and even then they will buy a Ryobi just to keep the job going.

  3. Tronex is expensive but the quality is fantastic, nicer than Knipex. Their grips are quite large, I can post comparison pics for you. I think Kobalt still makes some larger handled precision pliers, they're a little slimmer than Tronex but you could by a whole set for 2/3rd the cost of a pair of Tronex. The Felo 200 series goes down to PH0, according to the catalog the PH0 is .1" smaller grip than the PH1. But I think a bit holder and bits, you could even do more than one...One bit holder for PH, one for slotted, etc.. If you need really precision bits you could get 1/8" bit sets and use the 1/4" to 1/8" in a regular locking bit driver or JB Weld the bit adapter into the holder so it's permanent. Wiha Tradesman driver goes down to PH0: https://www.kctoolco.com/wiha-77790-26-in-one-tradesman-ultra-driver/

  4. Not mine, but a nice purchase. Carpenter buddy I'm working with today has picked up a few log home renos, so has been spending some bucks. These are amongst his purchases. That's a 10-1/4", and the 16-5/16" beam saw. Looking forward to playing with them some. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

  5. I have seen a few of the Canadian guys using this and posting their videos online.... it seems awesome! Such a cool and great idea from Makita. Again, not trying to beat a dead horse... but this would be excellent in finished areas and especially hospital or healthcare work. Keep us posted on how you like it! FB82

  10. How many of you are paying attention to prime deal days on amazon? I don't know how much ile be paying attention to all the savings. I will just check on my breaks and lunch during work. If I see something good ile consider it. Nothing I desperetly need so it would have to be a good deal. My girlfriend is all excited about deal days. She will probably buy a whole bunch of stuff.

  11. Hello, I am trying to find out if my Makita RT0701c router (110volt) will be able to fit an 8mm collet. I know that the 220v version of the same machine will fit a 6mm and an 8mm, but I am not sure if the 110v version is built to different specifications. Thanks for any help you are able to offer!

  12. @Bremon LS1016L is the model that I have been using. I don't know that it would be the best for a large commercial site, but for trimming in a controlled area it is my favorite. It cuts really smooth and it doesn't have too many parts.

  13. Concur. I have the corded 10" Makita and love it. It actually pains me that they are coming out with this, as I will be tempted to upgrade, if you want to call it that.

  14. Ah yes, the Makita beam saw... total beast in my opinion. We have used it recently on some timber work. Honestly, can't think of anything that is remotely as good for that application.

  17. @JakeDewalt I agree. Some DeWALT tools may be long in the tooth or be lacking in convenience features, but they are able to complete the job and at the end of the day if it completes the job, thats all that matters.

  18. I disagree Dewalts line may be missing some specialty and helpful tools but it is a complete set up that can frame and finish and entire house which I have done multiple times in the past 3 years. Dewalt has plenty of lights to get the job done I don't feel the need to buy a Milwaukee light ? I own zero Bosch, Mikita, or Milwaukee tools and have never got to a job site and be unable to complete my tasks. I think most people saying they had to buy multiple brands never actually bought the entire dewalt line-up. Do I love new tools of course, but I'm having trouble thinking of a new tool that dewalt could come out with that has stopped me from being able to do my job before. Can you think of 1? Name 1 Milwaukee tool that I actually need? Bosch? Makita? Its became brand loyalty but it didn't start that way.

  24. I can only think of the Felos that go to ph0 as a full sized driver...but they only go to 1/8" in slotted. I feel like I'm forgetting someone that makes some small sizes with normal size grips. I just remembered that Xcelite made a driver set that is small handle but has a single larger handle that slips over the smaller handles. Nut drivers: https://www.amazon.com/Xcelite-PS120-Compact-Convertible-Nutdriver/dp/B0002JT7O4/ Found the phillips and slotted : https://www.amazon.com/Xcelite-Compact-Convertible-Screwdriver-Plastic/dp/B007NLPRTI Found hex: https://www.amazon.com/Xcelite-PS89V-Socket-Screwdriver-9-Piece/dp/B000ZUBWWK/ There are also a different style: https://www.amazon.com/Xcelite-99PS40BP-Ballpoint-Screwdriver-11-Piece/dp/B004UNFBMA/

  25. The DeWalt contract for the end cap is nearing its end. If FlexVolt is selling well at certain stores they will stay there. Other stores with slower sales will clear them out for better shelf space use.

  27. I had a Rikon mortiser. For 350.00 it had features none of the others in its class had. I would have had to jump to 1200.00 range to find something to compete with it. Rikon makes some nice stuff.

  30. One trick you might consider is pan handles. I've found pretty good success with files by using handles from old pans. When it comes time for the wife to throw a pan away, I scavenge the handle off of it. They come in handy (is that a pun? If so, no pun intended) for handles on tools...files, screwdrivers, etc.. Another thing to consider is buying the cheapest screwdrivers you can find, Harbor Freight and Menard's have some decent-handled stuff, and strip the handles off. Heat the steel enough to pull the handles off, then heat your tool and slide the handle on. I've done this with files too, and it works pretty good.

  32. As a happy owner of the FlexVolt 12 I think the new Makita pair is looking like they could be the best 10" ever made and likely most versatile saws on the market. The capacity, extraction, tolerances and weight seem like the perfect mix.

  34. The Hitachi 12" slider is such a good saw especially for the price. I ended up selling mine for the Bosch glide saw. I wouldn't say I moved up but went sideways with it. I love my Bosch and I got it for a great price but the Hitachi is severely underrated. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

  36. You definitely don't need the high torque then...that's a TON of torque and it's heavy as hell. The compact should be plenty, I use my compacts for lug nuts and it takes one hammer hit (in mode 3) to loosen the nut. Putting it on(with the 3/8" and a 5.0Ah battery); 2 hits gets you to about 80-85 ft lbs, perfect for setting you up for the torque wrench. I haven't used the 1/2" enough on lugs to know where it gets you. A 2.0Ah battery will give you noticeably less power on those impacts.
