rrich1
I did it again. I bought a Sargent 414 plane (Stanley #5 equivalent). It was a little rough but not bad. Took about an hour and a half to restore. I still need to redo the handles and sharpen it though. rrich1
I forget to get a pic of the sole before I cleaned it. It looked like the side though. Used my new fit pliers from @kctoolco to hold all the bolts for cleaning. Did a great job of gripping them. rrich1
Finally got the grinder attached to the flip top stand. This took way too long to do. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
rrich1
I got a Stanley sweetheart #4 plane 1925-1928 to restore for a father in law gift. I had a wardsmaster #5 I'm going to pair it with as well for him. I'll keep the Sargent I just redid along with the newer record for my use. The wards was already in great shape. Just cleaning it up a little and getting the blade done right. The Stanley is a little worse off but should clean up well.Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
rrich1
Stanley plane is done and cutting just fine. Hopefully the father in law will like it. It turned out super well. The blade took a while to get where I wanted it. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

rrich1
Nice job.. Man I have drooled over that saw for a while might be taking my Hitachi back and upgrading soon still have 60 days to decide lol.. That's a hell of a router you have mounted alsoThanks! The saw has been really great so far. Adding the extra storage and router table were simple projects but were excellent additions to the saw/shop. If you have the room I suggest the bigger saw. It is more stable and I believe has more capacity. It really doesn't take up any more space than the job site saws. Check for Lowe's to do 11% rebate weeks. At least it will save you a little bit of money. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
rrich1
Got refinished the handles for the wards master plane. Turned out really nice being able to see the grain. Before they were solid black. The wards master and Stanley were gifted to my father in law this week. He really liked them. Working on a Sargent low angle block plane now. Should be finished today. rrich1
Started and finished a Sargent 5307 low angle? Block plane today. Started in pretty decent shape. Apparently when you sharpen with 2500 grit you get a mirror shine. Whoduthunk. Time to sharpen the other blades to match now.Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
rrich1
Started on the Brodhead Garrett vise today. Had to break out the knipex duo cobra/pliers wrench to get the rods and nuts off. The larger Milwaukee wrench just couldn't handle it. Currently soaking in a purple power and simple green mix right now. I found a friend that has a sand blaster which will really help to clean this up. Need to contact him about a good time to use it. rrich1
Actually cut some wood today! Got the pieces for the leg vise chop cut today. Glue up later tonight. Hickory for the face and syp for the inside. Still trying to decide on a design and width for the top. rrich1
Got the chop basically dimentioned. Trying to figure out a layout for the design of the chop. If you can see the lines I made in a coffin style does it look ok or does it look top heavy? The start of the cut is at 17". 37" chop length total. KnarlyCarl
So awesome catching up on what you're up to, the old stuff was meant to last, and here's proof, so cool! I still have my old Delta scroll saw on my list, that thing is not going anywhere, can't get stuff that incredible anymore!
rrich1
So awesome catching up on what you're up to, the old stuff was meant to last, and here's proof, so cool! I still have my old Delta scroll saw on my list, that thing is not going anywhere, can't get stuff that incredible anymore! Thanks knarly. Some old tools are worth redoing. I took the vise to my friends house today who has a small sand blaster. Did an ok job but there was multiple layers of paint it just couldn't get off. Got the pieces in paint stripper right now. Hopefully it will do the rest of the job. Might take a couple of times though. My friend had a dust collector he had never used. He got it from someone else a while ago and I saw it in the corner. Offered it to me $25! Yes please! It's a 1hp jet. Will be a step up from the dust deputy and small shop vac I have now. These were some before pics of me cleaning it up. Looks a lot better now. The bags are currently in the wash lol. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
