I'm looking for flush cut pliers that could easily cut 16 gauge staples.

Agreed, the truly flush cut is mostly for plastics and leads(on a capacitor or resistor), I don't even use them on diodes. The Kleins are also double beveled, the Knipex should be a great replacement. I've cut (small) screws and nails with my 7" Knipex diagonal cutters.
