  1. I would agree with the Festool sander. Currently I run two cordless Dewalt sanders, a Festool RO90 and a Bosch ROS65VCL which has both a five and a six inch interface pad. The big thing is dust collection so you don’t get a lot of extra scratching or dust and the paper. Festool arguably makes the best paper and I won’t disagree with that. I would that I use both Festool Granat) and Mirka (mesh) paper. Plywood can be tricky because of the veneer thickness but you cannot go wrong with Festool. Don’t skimp on the paper though! On a side note I am a Festool snob but my Bosch is a GREAT sander and is my primary sander. If I was in a position to get the EC I would not hesitate.
  2. I had the same problem. After much pulling with some lineman pliers I got the bit loose, sold the impact and switched to Dewalt. I think that chuck does too much and is not good at either on it’s own.

Naturally being that I do not own either of these, I’ll chime in. So looking at the 06 it looks like every other stand out there so for instance, my Dewalt stand will accommodate any of my miter saws. All 4 of them. Don’t ask. Festool, Bosch, Dewalt and Metabo HPT. As long as the bolts are 90* to one another you should be just fine. On another note I also use my stand occasionally for my Planer.
  4. I’ve got the Rolair ultra quiet and it looks like the HPT has the same muffler on it so I bet it’ll be really quiet!
  5. Yuppers. Got a slick AR pistol in .223/.556 which almost is on par with my patrol rifle that I carried for years in both SWAT and as cruiser carry. I bought factory blemished for $449 plus FFA of $25 for transfer. Had it within a week, looks brand new. Also…AR pistol is a laughable description by the feds. It’s a .556 rifle barrel. Amazing what they pass off because of a stock. Great rifle…I mean pistol 😉. Great price too. Check out there Dagger gen III Glock too. Nice pistol. And yes. It’s a pistol. Also…thank YOU for your service Will. Good luck on the job hunt. I would like to say…be a cellar saver. Those guys are for the most part loved and can have a second job while they work to save lives! My Dad always questioned me for getting out of rescue and going with the blue canaries…
  6. Hey Will. Sorry for the absence but life sometimes takes us on new adventures. Anyways just retired from sp as a Sgt and task force commander. Being newly retired with a 2 year old, a 5 year old and my Wife and not having a cruiser armory in my drive I now carry with credentials ( I never did before but due to unprecedented social and political events my Opinion and Attitude has changed) and my home is as well defended as it was when I had my cruiser at home. I am not a gun nut and I do not get into politics but like most American Cops I fully support and encourage Citizens to own and TRAIN with firearms. Great topic starter! Also I am sure you know about Palmetto State Armory but if not check them out. Very pleased with their service.
  7. I still own the 996 and have had it for several years. I smoked it once while drilling with a large auger bit but the drill still works strong last summer. If you look at the Dewalt site they say 42% more power with a 6ah flex volt over the 5. Having said that, I was using the 5 and was placing several 3/4” rebar pins into double stacked PT 4x (old lumber) for two retaining walls. The 996 minus the last smoke show with the 5 did admirably. I beat the crap out of that drill. Everything I’ve heard about the new Dewalt advantage and the power detect seems to indicate they made some significant advantages in the quality of the tool. That being said I drilled about 20 of these with a 5 and she still works great (I spent last week drilling plumbing and wiring holes into sub floor and stud) so I am pretty sure the 5 will still be enough power unless you are doing some really really heavy duty drilling. Generally speaking now I use the new larger packs as I sold my last 5 and have been using the new high capacity 6, 8 and 10. I switched most of my outdoor tools to cordless and use Flexvolts in those except my lawn mower which I use the 10 and that thing goes like a beast.
  8. Have you checked the shoe where the saw rests at full plunge or the actual plunging mechanism for being in square?
  9. Dude, the new HTP 7-1/4 is a frikkin’ awesome looking machine. Hands down a phenomenal saw. I have the 10” 36v and like it a lot but that new Japanese made machine looks like it is right in the Kapex line.
  10. Hey welcome to the forum. Also nothing wrong with Ryobi I have a few green tools too
  11. I haven’t used the Makita but I use the Bosch and Milwaukee 12v jacket power units as a quick charger for my cell and they work great.
  12. Dewalt to Ryobi adapter smoked first time I used it
  13. No worries Jimbo! Glad to see the crew checking in!
  14. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 Hope you all have a wonderful and safe Christmas!!!!
  15. Nice bro me congratulations on the truck! I just got a 2012 Tundra with a 119k at rolling in my pimped our Pacifica....don’t get me started....isn’t help the dude card.
  16. This is the new brushless XR jiggy. Of the reviews I have seen, it smokes the new Milwaukee. Equipped with LED too. I will hold my opinion in the Red vs Yellow war but my red tools are growing in numbers but only in the specialty tool area. I have had a lot more luck with yellow over red in build quality and got rid of everything red about five years ago But....to each their own. It’s like Ford vs. Chevy. Everyone knows Toyota is better. Anyways, these tools were a smart purchase with a surprise 4.0 I didn’t even know came in the package for $174. A total steal. Chris is getting some Ryobi stuff too.....hmmmmm....
  17. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and your families TiA! I hope you all have a great day and don’t kill yourselves at HD and Lowe’s tomorrow!
