  1. Did you purchase this off of Ebay? I use to order tools only available in the UK from Toolstop.com but it seems that they don't offer USA delivery anymore.
  2. Looks like a 18v Fax machine. I see the plug on the right side so maybe a 18v power unit that converts to 110 somehow?
  3. I have the older model and it has plenty of torque but the blade speed is too slow at I think 2700. If pushed too fast you can get it to stall pretty easily. The newer model should be much better and I like the built in dust tube.

  5. Your right that would have absolutely worked. It was more about me figuring out the limits of the tools and what types of jobs they are more suited for. I actually like using trim head screws sometimes also. They leave a hole not much bigger than a 15g nailer and actually bite into the wood. Someday when I have spare time I would like to try building stuff with hand tools only.
  6. I agree with you in regards to finish work. they aren't replacements just yet for certain projects. I made a dining table out of Hickory and needed to use nails to attach a trim piece to the side of the top. None of the cordless nailers I had could handle shooting 2" nails into hickory end grain. This included the dewalt 20v 16g, the greco 18g fuel nailer, or my buddies Ryobi 18v. I had to use my old pneumatic to complete it. That is where something like this could come in real handy. It should be more powerful than current cordless nailers and it can also be used for other tasks like filling up bike and car tires in non powered areas.
  7. Here is a visual of the difference in size between cordless nail guns and pneumatic. I think I like the smaller gun with the cordless compressor over the large gun. These are both 18G.
  8. I can't speak for the Dewalt and Makita cordless tracks but I own the Festool cordless and it has awesome dust collection with the attached bag. It worked well enough that I never plug in the vacuum. It is nice to make cuts and not have to watch where the cord are while cutting.
  9. A little disappointed. I was hoping for a 10" miter saw, a 10" corded/cordless tablesaw, and a vacuum that takes advantage of the 60v batteries. Maybe next year.
  10. I've seen that vacuum in European market but it's the same specs as their current dcv581. They just slapped Flexvolt on it so people know that those new batteries will work in it. Where is there true upgraded vacuum to take advantage of the new batteries and 60v power?
  11. Does anyone know if Dewalt is planning a more powerful vacuum? I like there current little ones but I am hoping for a vacuum that can get closer to plug in power with the flex volt batteries.

    New battery?

The 3ah batteries are the upgraded cells, so they should have superior runtime over the regular 2ah and still be relatively compact.
  13. Most Battery Powered nailers can't sink 2 1/2 inch brads into hardwoods and sometimes struggle with 2", with the exception of Paslode. So that could be the benefit of this, compressed air is still more powerful. plus you can fit all air guns from 15-23g in a small bag, where battery powered guns are much bigger.
  14. That says a lot bout what kind of company Shaper is. They want the best and not the cheapest. Thats a refreshing business model.
  15. Since Ryobi announced a dual battery 10" miter saw today, could it mean that a dual battery Gen 2 10" miter saw is on its way also from Milwaukee. If not why would they beef up the ryobi and not the Milwaukee? I have the fuel miter saw and I think works really well considering its only 18v, but that also limits it at times and dual 18v would help out tremendously.
  16. awesome, thanks for the tip.
  17. rrmcabe: I haven't attached it yet but i plan to put blocks to attach the corners too. rrich1: I am going to mount it to blocks with star knobs so they are easy to put on and take off. I thought about making it the same height as the MFT but that height with the MFT folded height would be about 42" and i felt that was a little too high. If I though I would take it off often to use 2 tables I would have went that route. When I need a big assembly table I will use a centipede sawhorse with a sheet of plywood. The MFT will just be where everything is cut, ripped and routed.
  18. So I set out to make the smallest workbench with the most capabilities that I could. I welded a base for My MFT/3 and was able to fit my Flexvolt tablesaw and Flexvolt 12" non sliding miter saw underneath. with this setup there is not much I can't build for my furniture making hobby and tinkering. the best part is that it only takes up about 45" x 30" in the corner of my garage and I can wheel everything into my driveway, build something, and roll it back into the garage without making a mess or having to use any extension cords.

    Job box

just FYI almost any lock can be easily cut with a 12v dremel. I had my kryptonite lock cut and my bike stolen like this. I found my impenetrable unbreakable lock laying on the ground cut. The advancement of cordless tools in awesome except when it comes to locks and securing your stuff.
  20. I think it sounds great but I haven't owned other brands to compare it too. It seems well built and the bluetooth and call answering functions work great. When I turn it on it says "Power on, your headset is connected" in a female British accent which is cool haha. you can also change your pandora songs by pushing a button on the side of it.
  21. I came across these new bluetooth headphones by Metabo and ordered them from the UK. They were only $20 but delivery was $35 because they came form the UK to California. Still a pretty good deal. There is also a microphone in them so when you receive a phone call, the music stops and you can answer the phone by clicking the side button and can speak. Im sure its just rebranded by metabo but i'm a sucker for anything that says Metabo on it.
  22. That nailer might be a concrete nailer. I thought a heard a rumor about that awhile back.
  23. I have the Jobsite Sawstop. It does not easily trip with cutting moist wood. By that I mean that I have NEVER activated it. It has to be substantially wet wood to activate. A finger and or metal is much more conductive than wet wood. These stories of fake activations seem to be more prevalent among people that don't even have the saw. There is a built in feature where you can deactivate the safety system. You can then do a test cut and the system will tell you if the material is conductive enough to activate without actually doing it, if your concerned. On a side note most good blades are not damaged after a activation. The cartridge is made of aluminum and acts like a crumple zone in a car to absorb the energy. It doest just jam a hard piece of metal into the blade.
  24. I think the next leap in a few years will be getting current Flexvolt power out of smaller batteries though some sort of more dense cells. I do think the size of the batteries is getting a little out of hand. I have some Flexvolt and they are great but are ridiculous on smaller tools like drills and multi tools. I think Bosch has the right idea with 20700 6ah batteries that are 35% smaller than the flex volt batteries. Use that technology with the Makita x2 idea and you have the best of both worlds.
  25. I know everyone is quick to judge Sawstop for legally stopping the reaxx but what if Bosch did actually infringe on their patent enough to be illegal? There must have been some compelling evidence shown for Sawstop to win in court. I'm pretty sure if it was the other way around Bosch would have taken them to court also. This is how business and patent infringements work. I can only imagine how many individual patents are owned by Sawstop with all the technology in their safety mechanism. I wish there was a safety feature similar on Dewalt saws because I like their rack and pinion better than any other system.
