  1. Hi, I am currently re-designing a belt sander for a big company, and one feature that I am working on is the adjustable handle. It is not very popular but I thought it can be useful when sanding vertical surfaces. As users of belt sanders, what is your opinion on adjustable handles? Any information would be of great help (sadly due to the COVID-19 I can't go out to ask people so this is all I have for now)
  2. i did some minor upgrades to my belt sander what have you guys done.
  3. I bought a used Makita belt sander because I needed to do heavy sanding on a large wood table. Model 9911, 650 W. It seems to take much more material than the random orbital sander, but still it doesn't feel like it has enough power on lower speeds. If select lower speeds and push a bit harder on the sander, the motor sounds like it is struggling and eventually stops. Is this normal for 650W belt sanders, or do I need to repair it?
  4. After using a Ridgid R27401 belt sander for 2 months, it seems apparent that its not going to stand up. The dust collection system no longer works and the belt is not tracking. I need a more professional grade tool. I'm trying to decide between this Porter-Cable model and the Hitachi SB 8V2. They are nearly the same price here in Canada. The Hitachi's 9 amp motor is more powerful than Porter-Cable's 8 amp motor. The Hitachi has a 5 year warranty compared to Porter-Cable's 3 year warranty. However, the Hitachi is significantly wider and this might limit its manoeuvrability. The Porter-Cable has more metal construction and with its top-mounted motor, might be better for sanding in narrow spaces. Does anyone here have experience with these two belt sanders? Any recommendations? Which model will be more durable in the long run?
  5. Any opinions on the best belt sander? I hear a lot about Porter Cable and Makita on this! Also, what is the way to go... 3x21 or 3x24? Thanks, FB82
