  1. I recently purchased the Ryobi P523 Jigsaw. I was going to use some Bosch T-shank scroll blades that I had used in my old Ryobi jigsaw on a project with my new jigsaw. Well, the T-shank Bosch blades will not fit in the new jigsaw and the specs list: For use with T-shank jig saw blades or Ryobi universal shank jig saw blades.The lock collar for the blade will not quite lock into place. The shank above the T is just a bit longer than the Ryobi blades I have. So, I go to my local Home Depot in Raleigh and well, they don't even sell Ryobi jigsaw blades. Really?? 99% of what they have is Bosch and then some knock off brand. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems to me that Ryobi made a boo boo with this and why does Home Depot not carry Ryobi jigsaw blades in the store? I like the jigsaw and it cuts great with the standard wood blade I have but I'm probably going to return this thing unless someone know's something I don't. I'm not going to order and wait on blades every time I need one.
  2. Hi, I basically don't know anything about power tools, so I need some help. I just got a jigsaw, the dewalt dcs331, and I'm having a tracking problem. I know jigsaw's aren't meant for cutting perfectly straight lines, but regardless, for almost every blade I have (a set of 6), each one has a tendency to pop up and to the left off the tracker. The tracker is on the back of the blade, and is simply a wheel with a groove. Even when I have a straight edge lined up with the foot of the saw, the blade still ends up veering left, and bending, making a slightly slanted line. Is there a way to adjust this? Reviews say that this is a very nice saw. Is this something that just happens with all jigsaws? One possible problem could be saw dust. It has gotten quite dusty, so I'll clean it out soon an see if that makes a difference. Any replies are greatly appreciated.   3. Edit/Update: I seem to have fixed it! Replaced 1 of the 2 screws holding the base on, tightened them (nut first then torx screw w/ washers), & used loc tite on them + tightened all screws on the tool. I was just at HD and saw a display Milwaukee Jigsaw on the clearance rack. normally $129 for tool only. I got it for $60! My question/issue is that the base place seems to be quite loose/wobbly... and the arm that you open and close to adjust the angle on the bottom plate is also super loose. you can open it just by turning to tool to that side. Should I return it and forget it ...or does anyone know how to fix this?
  4. After the Dewalt media event 2015 I feel a bit dissapointed with what they showed. Milwaukee had some more interesting tools at their event IMO. Everybody has said that 2015 is the year for Dewalt to shine, but so far I'm not that impressed. What I'm hoping for in the 20V cordless line at this moment is: -Updated jigsaw with barrel grip (maybe brushless, but that will increase the price tag of course) -Brushless, more powerful circular saw -Brushless angle grinder -Brushless compact impact wrench. Take the technology from the new DCF899 and smash it in the form factor of the DCF880 These new tools will keep me on the yellow path and not mix in to team red. Not that I would mind those tools from Milwaukee but I intend to stick to one 18V/20V platform

  6. Hi, Joined this forum to share my repair experience on my 52318 18V cordless jigsaw. Like many others have reported on the web, my saw quit suddenly. I wasn't even sawing anything. I turned it on for a second to check the battery, it was fine. I then tried it again just before cutting and nothing. Dead. Tried 2 other batteries, still dead. Took it apart, removed the motor and found that it was seized. Removed the brushes, pried open the staking on the drive end and pulled out the rotor. With the rotor came both permanent magnets! The glue had totally failed that held the magnets to the frame. Bosch either used the wrong glue, used it improperly, or got a bad batch of glue. Anyway you look at it, a serious Bosch quality control problem for which they should have issued a recall or replaced the motors regardless of age. For a saw of this cost, you don't expect such QC failures. One magnet had a fairly large piece chipped out of its corner. I first glued this back with JB weld. I then glued both magnets back into the frame with a thin layer of JB weld and held them there overnight with spring clamps. Getting the rotor to line up again without rubbing on the magnets was a real chore because of the way the endplates are (not) secured in any sort of alignment and the magnets pull the rotor over onto one or the other of them. Once I got the rotor to turn freely, I re-did the stakes as good as I could, then JB welded the end plate onto the frame. I had to trim the ends of the fan blades to get the rotor back past the magnets once they were glued in. It might be better to remove the NDE plate. I don't use the saw for extended periods, so I don't think the reduced cooling will hurt it. I cleaned up and undercut the commutator while I had the rotor out. The saw now runs as good or better than ever. Alan
