Not necessarily, I personally prefer a 1/2" even on a compact.  I know different people have different preferences and applications.  It's possible that a 3/8" anvil won't hold up to 330ft/lbs of torque but I'm no engineer so I don't really know.

Yeah DeWalt battery and tool with Mac covers on both. Battery cover is like $5 and impact boot is like $13. That was from when I first got it. Pretty abused like 5 months later and holding up well. Waiting for battery covers for the 6.0. Mac batteries and impact are literally identical except for color and decals.
