Kudu
I was changing blades on my planer the other day and I noticed a black deposit ( sooty, sort of fine dry rubbery) on the vent for the fan motor that is normally covered by the dust collector housing. I contacted Dewalt and they sent me a "canned reply" of returning it to their service center 180 miles away. This "soot", may be simply a product of use and not a defect. Has anyone else noticed this deposit on their unit. My planer runs fine, sounds fine and I am happy with it. Not so happy with Dewalts customer service... No issues with mine for the last four years. Maybe dull blades burning up some wood? Pitch? Not sure dude. Having said that, she sounds like a banshee but I love that planer.
