Milwaukee M18 battery

Recommended Posts

I have a problem with a battery.

I have a m18 5.0 battery that when you hit the power indicator it blinks with one bar (indicating it is dead). Obviously there is no power to make any tools work with it. When you plug it into the charger the light (on the charger) comes on as green but the battery is dead.

left it on the charger for a hour to see if it would charge while on green unfortunately it did not. It is not the charger as it still charges the other two battery I have they charge normally and I have a second charger and it gives the same symptoms.

The battery was bought about 8 months ago.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Preferably with out buying a new battery.

I actually just had a 5.0 do this the other day and I've had other m18 batteries fail the same way.  The battery is bad, although the "red link" computers not supposed to let it over discharge I assume that's what happens and when they drain too low they'll never take a charge again.  Being that it's only 8 months old your best bet is to send it in to milwaukees warranty as it should be covered for 3 years pretty much no questions asked.

Google how to bring a dead battery back alive.

There are numerous videos showing how plugging the charger in, then unplugging it, then plugging it back in, and repeating actually gets the charger to charge the battery once again.

Mine are still good so I haven’t tried it yet, but you might want to take a look at them and see if it works for you.
