Faldoe
I just got the M18 1/2'' driver set with the 1/4'' impact driver. The model on the 1/2'' driver box says "2606-22CT." I tried it our briefly and noticed there was a considerable about of sparking/arching behavior going on in the drill. A few times a small spark was emitted. Is this normal? I got the set new from International Tool. Thoughts? The Impact driver seems to be more "normal:" minimal internal sparking.
DR99
It's probably from the brushes wearing in.
Faldoe
Ahh, is that a common occurrence?
DR99
Yes it is. You will probably see the occasional spark too once they wear in also

ChrisK
Yup, all of my guns have done that till they wear in. If you hear any grinding or maybe if the machine bursts into flames you'll have a problem though
Migueld510
Does this occur when you are engaging the trigger, or releasing it? I am also thinking that it could be the electric brake in action, as from what I understand, it creats a lot of friction to immediatley stop the driver from spinning when the trigger is released. comp56
pretty common even back in the day when you would put new brushes in some used tools
Bremon
Brushless tools spark as well and are not suitable to use around sources of ignition. The sparks are just more inconspicuous compared to brushed tools.
