I'm not sure when the switch was made but these are made in China. The previous gold bits were made in Japan...not sure if it's just the 1" bits or the larger bits as well. The bits are also not magnetized like the Japanese longer bits. They do appear to still be nice bits and the bit holder has a retaining ring and magnetizes well. Looks the same as the one Jimbo had posted about a while back.
