What tools did you buy today?

Recommended Posts

I've been needing a 250mm Knipex pliers wrench for a while but I came across this "copy" in the local Bunnings; a Trojan Multigrip Wrench. It was only $29 AUD with a lifetime guarantee, and so far it seems to operate pretty much on par with my 180mm Knipex pliers wrench. The red on the Jaws are removable rubber shoes. I'm really liking it, especially considering it's 1/3 of the price of the Knipex. If you're in AUS check them out. I think the quality is ok for the price.

Got this to be my cordless option for Dremel-type applications. Specs pretty close to the die grinder for $50 less and comes with a 1/8” collet out of the box, so we’ll see how it does.

I've bought a heap of tools lately, but this hammer was on my wish list for the longest: Estwing 15 oz Ultra hammer (short ~350mm version).

I needed good quality locking pliers for welding. I wanted Knipex but saw these Stanley Fatmax ones so I thought I'd take a gamble. Very, very impressed! Seriously. I have both Grip-on and Knipex locking pliers already. These feel just as smooth, solid, and as well made as my Grip-on! Not at all sloppy. I really like them.

Lee valley veritas goodness today.

Bench dogs, planing stop, and Wonder dog. Veritas tools are so we'll made. You do yourself a disservice if you don't consider them first. 53bdcb6334b352a9932411e2cd9ff32b.jpg

They are a great deal, certainly not worth building your own

The one I am receiving is supposed to arrive on Monday. Gonna give it to a coworker who I think could use it. His Milwaukee isn't working and his DeWALT is a bit old (DW056 impact driver).

Not power tools, but I picked up a couple of the new Ridgid clear lid organizers.  There are two double length bins with slide-in dividers to section them into thirds, while the other eight bins seem to be the same as the older organizer/small box.  Increasing the modularity even more is the fact that there are rails molded in that should work with the older box's slide-in dividers.

M12 spotlight, 750 lumens, very bright!

Brighter than my 20v DeWALT. Nice find.

I got my Freak'n Winner kit today and have already given it to my coworker in need. He was very appreciative.

BR800x...so hard to find.....sooooo sweet!

Awesome - I can't even find a Stihl deal around here that has one in stock.  What did that bad boy end up costing, if I may ask? (If it's not in stock, the Stihl dealers don't even list the price on their websites)

My first Lufkin tape. I'm quite impressed. Build quality feels great. The blade is a little too curved compared to other tapes I have, but I guess that's where the 3.5m standout comes from. Blade printing is not a good as a Japanese tape but better than the Stanley tapes I own.

The lock switch is great on this. Very easy to use. Just like rocking a light switch as opposed to sliding it. I like it.

And....great to buy an Australian made tool! The only Aussie tool I own.

I won’t even be needing this for a few months at least but HD having a sale right now wasn’t a bad incentive

Then this was on closeout. Mostly I “need” the drill, but a couple extra batteries, an extra brushless impact, and charger for barely more than the bare tool was hard to turn down.

Went to Home Depot with plans to buy the M12 1/4" ratchet with free 2.0 battery.  That doesn't qualify for the promo (3/8" and Fuel 3/8" and 1/2" do, however), so I ended up with the Packout combo I never planned to buy.  Also added the low profile organizer.  Here are a few pics next to the ToughSystem and Ridgid combos with organizers, to include the layout of each organizer:

20181112_182039.thumb.jpg.9235c1033eee85538f8e791578f09589.jpg20181112_182204.thumb.jpg.2a184098564efe80d84ffdd9d42a712a.jpg20181112_182221.thumb.jpg.41c448708e58c1623f65b3e3ed97027b.jpg20181112_182227.thumb.jpg.adfcae97299e9b3a0462c661becf2e78.jpg20181112_182240.thumb.jpg.95b4752512f21b463f5c0a744556f755.jpg

Note the height of the Packout handle compared to the other two, allowing for an extra box if needed; overall not too bad, but we'll see if it's worth twice the holiday price of the other two.
