  1. yep, its very silly to be brand loyal for electric tools. for cordless, its much harder to pick and choose
  2. i had heard first quarter also, disappointing its so far away. I can't understand how Dewalt always takes so long even to just do an almost straight rip from their own older 18V line. I think they should have been able to switch the majority of their 18V line to 20V in the first couple of years...
  3. good luck driving any screws into timber with that, especially if not pre-drilled...
  4. agreed. for SDS + wrench Milwaukee > Bosch > Dewalt.
  5. great job TIA, and congrats to the winners!
  6. please watch this video to understand why they chose Barry Hall, junior boxer and legendary Australian Rules Football player.
  7. hahaha!! I'm probably going to do something stupid like that one day....
  8. UPDATE: this editing is taking a LONG time. Unlikely to see this until January - sorry!

    Makita drill deal?

i understand all the reasoning behind Makita's rules, they just look below-par compared to the competition, who don't have these issues (though Bosch's 1.3Ah batteries also have a tab). Good thing Makita has upped the ante on their latest (fantastic brushless) tools, cause their battery compatibility complexities still upset me.
  10. pretty sure Makita multi-tools are the regular type as made by Bosch (who make excellent bits) etc. I know the previous model (without quick change) was.
  11. Thanks Jason. To be honest, i get pretty upset at Australia a lot of the time. The majority are just so ignorant and intolerant when it comes to other religions, asylum seekers etc. I get very jealous of Canada and similar societies. But there's no denying that we have great quality of life, and are the envy of many other nations in terms of wealth / equality (as long as you're not middle eastern) / open space.
  12. I've owned the GDS 18 High Torque wrench, it is a really nice tool. Very sturdy in the hand and powerful. I would take it over the non-fuel Milwaukee, though I haven't owned or used the milwaukee. I'd take the FUEL over either. Note: I'm not a tradie, which is why i didn't keep the high torque wrench, so take my advice with a grain of salt.
  13. Nice video Javier! Getting very professional...
  14. The 5ah 12V battery will be arriving in D + 2 weeks. Where D = the Date you purchase the 4ah battery.
  15. Mike was sooking having drilled 230 odd 1-1/2" holes. I was crying like a little girl with a 10mm masonry bit 60+ holes in hard concrete. No injuries, though Mike's jewels may still be a little sore....
  16. Thanks guys. I'm thinking of make a 10-15 minute video (summary) and a longer one for those who want the nitty gritty.
  17. EDIT: It's up! http://professional-power-tool-guide.com/power-tool-forum/index.php?/topic/5774-massive-brushless-hammer-drill-comparison-milwaukee-dewalt-makita-bosch-metabo/ http://oztooltalk.com/hammer_drill_comparison/ we spent a whole day just using the tools and filming. yet to analyse our results or do an actual review. in a couple of weeks, you might just see the best drill comparison to date...
  18. Well not quite the other side of Australia, but definitely much too far for a day trip
  19. I know the feeling BK13, American's have such a huge range of tools compared to us, and you have Amazon! Very jealous. RE: T-shirts. It would probably just be easier to swap the graphics, and have them printed at our local stores to avoid shipping. I probably wouldn't have a problem providing our graphics to anyone who wanted them. But in reality, I can't see anyone forking out their hard earned to get Oz Tool Talk printed on a t-shirt!
  20. as long as chargers are released to keep charge times under an hour, I'm happy to see batteries get infinitely larger capacity at the same sizes we are used to now (slims and high capacity).
  21. i think that the big impact wrench should be purchased for specific activities in mind. automotive, tilt-panel work etc. I would never own the big one without owning the compact version as well, because using the big one on small threads is bound for trouble. having said that a little adapter on your impact driver can play this part too, which makes a lot of financial sense.

    some questions

i have all the tools you mention, they are great gear. definately don't go back to the 18V XRP stuff. The only thing you might toss up is switching to Milwaukee or Bosch etc. But if you like Dewalt, what you have proposed is a good idea. Though you'll probably want to grab a 4.0/5.0Ah battery at some point for the circular saw...
