  1. Wow kdv, I always knew I was a nut! Now the HD employee proved it!
  2. Turner, the Kapex is expensive but....Also, you can put that saw on any saw stand with a modification. For instance, I built a small table that I secured to my Kapex and them my Ryobi saw stand and it worked out pretty well. I'm waiting for a Fastcap fence to come in now for my Kapex that's going to attach directly to the cutting table. I'm with you though, dropping nearly $900 for the stand set was a joke. I got the MFT Kapex now on a sale and it works slick as snot. But....I did a lot of research on the miter saws and ended up taking my advice, get the best you can afford for the one time purchase. Save up. If you need it now then that's life! As far as votes.... Desalt DW780 Milwaukee 6955 Makita LS 10 or 12" models Bosch Axial AND........ the KAPEX!!!!

    Stuff that Sucks

Hahahahaha oooooops. I have to admit, the Makitas I have now are pretty sweet machines though! Really an incredible improvement in every way. But I do remember the smoke show like it was yesterday.......Dan had an Afro, Eric was wearing bell bottoms.....there was a spinning mirror ball and in the back ground, playing softly was.....dare I say.......Blondie? Leave it to those darn Makita people to get their panties in a bunch over a little burnt motor and grease. Geeeesh!
  4. kdv that's a cool little trick. I've never thought to do that but clearly an interesting take on a traditional project.
  5. I hope you get the job dude! Let us know when you find out but I am really serious about that too. I just found out Univ Southern NH has a program for my agency where I can get a college BS degree for 10k. I might take it. I got out of HS and went into Fire EMS and then my current job so this is all I've done.
  6. Hey Mikey, I'm 44 too and retire in three and a half and have been toying with that idea! Nalurash never too d by the way!
  7. Awesome video Jason! Thanks dude, goes nice with an ice cold PorchRocker from Mr Samuel Adams!
  8. Kyle, first off welcome to the forum. Use the old adage, "You get what you pay for" my friend. But truthfully, if your a DIY homeowner and don't want to drop a huge amount of money, Ryobi makes some really high quality affordable tools and truthfully my Black and Decker 20v Autosense drill is an awesome drill that I use all the time with my Kreg jig, you can't overdrive fasteners in wood. Also, B&D 20v tools are a broad spectrum tool base that many DIY home owners are more than satisfied with. If I were you, I'd go with this advice, buy what you can afford when you can afford it and get the best you can buy at that time so you don't have to buy twice. Maybe wait a while and save for those Milwaukee tools or look at CPO Milwaukee or Tyler Tool for a reconditioned unit.
  9. Don't do that for God sake!!!! That's why prices keep going up on stuff! Sell it on EBay or here but don't false return! They end up losing out the cash plus if they catch you doing it they could charge with theft by deception and that would suck big time! I'm sure you could sell it for a a couple of hundred or give it to a family member!
  10. Exactly Madman and the Ridgid stuff is awesome. They make some really great tools and coming from experience the LSA is awesome if you register those tools. I had battery problems with my early and first Ridgid 18v tool but Ridgid did ,e good and got me better batteries. I think TTI makes good power tools and winning that next gen Ridgid set is a real blessing! Comes with everything you need Doof!

    First Ryobi tools...

https://www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/products/details/67 I'm really happy with my Dewalt but I almost bought this one. My local HD carried it for quite a while but when I decided to drop the coin they had stopped carrying it. Ryobi still has the machine listed on their website.

  13. It's just to integrate the Dewalt guys into the general forum and have a separation. And yeah Mike, time flies. It's amazing to think how much has changed over the last few years and new members come on. It's been amazing how many members have just popped up in the last month and how many posts are being made. I can't keep up with all of the topics being started!
  14. Good for you Doof! Congratulations dude!!!

    Stuff that Sucks

I hate to diss Milwaukee, but maybe they should've put some more thought into that one. I have had two Milwaukee tools that sucked. The first gen M18 compact drill (chuck was defective on first and second unit and that sawzall. I've had a couple of warranty claims though and although beside Ridgid, I've only used Milwaukees warranty but they were awesome to deal with. Interestingly enough, my first Bosch multi had to go back with a manufacturer issue so Bosch was the only other return I've done with a tool. Believe it or not, Bosch was a bit of a pain to make the claim but unbelievably fast when it was done.
  16. Happy Canada day guys! Love your Country, beautiful and very, very friendly people. On a visit to Montreal for LASIK, I was helped by people all over that City while I walked around and made myself familiar with it. I couldn't help but think if I got lost in Boston I'd get my a$s kicked for taking to long at an intersection! No slam on the Birthplace of our Country though, I love Boston.

I had the M18 sawzall too Jason, it sucked. No moveable shoe and underpowered. I had it for about three months and got rid of it. No my M12 Fuel Hackzall.......forgit 'bout it! That little guy is AWESOME! Super powerful, awesome trigger control, super powerful. Love that machine. Tore up doubled up 2x4 nail embedded wood with a 3/4 facia. Didn't even slow down. Worse table saw I had, my Ryobi 10" contractor saw. Not impressed. I couldn't cut sheet goods without nearly flipping the machine over.
