  1. Welcome to my world...
  2. More entertaining stuff: just did the brakes on the GF's Expedition today. Caliper bolts on the left side were T45 Torx, right side were 6mm hex. I've run into goofy stuff on my F150, like the drain plug being 5/8" and the skid plate bolts (so I can get my oversized hands on the filter) 10mm, but mixing hex and Torx is really annoying.
  3. I think any of the big three will work. I'd personally look at Milwaukee (Fuel screwdriver or drill driver) first, since I'm pretty heavily invested already, then Bosch, then DeWalt. But honestly, go with what fits your hand best. I have pretty big hands, so I don't have a problem with the grips from Team Red like some of the girls here do... (just kidding!)
  4. Proto's makes Snap On's seem well sorted out....
  5. Thank you sir. Proto's website is not the most user friendly, that's for sure.
  6. I was bumping around the Proto website, looking at sockets (BTW, damn you Travis!) when I decided to look at 3/4" drive stuff. I have about as much need for 3/4" stuff as I do for tiny Italian sports cars that I don't fit in, but nevermind about that. Found a nice set (J55106), and thought I'd check Amazon for a price on it.It's a fair chunk of change, @ roughly $1250, but what amazed me was that Amazon has it in the (Tools and) Home Improvement section. Never known anybody to need 3/4" stuff working in a bathroom... And yes, I'm bored as hell.
  7. Nice gang of tools there! I see a couple that I'd still like to pick up... the powered screwdriver, the oscillating multi tool. Not a single 4 ah battery though... (not that I've used mine much...)
  8. Heck, the only B&M place I've found locally that carries IQ20v charges about +$150 what you can find them on line for, so mail order is the way to go...
  9. Yeah, that was the other thing. My dad was a Federal parole officer with a lot of clients who were druggies. I do wish I would have drank a little in HS, though I made up for it in the 18-20 years....

    Wise words

Thanks for posting this, Red. I'm at kind of a crossroads in my life, I'm a land surveyor, but there are essentially zero opportunities locally (I have a spreadsheet with nearly 100 contact reports listed), and when I do manage to find some (temporary) work, I'm going backwards wage wise. So either I find a different path so I can stay local, and still see my four year old son and a girlfriend that I'm pretty fond of (she doesn't realize that she's way too good for the likes of me), or take a job in Montana/Wyoming/North Dakota where I can make pretty good money (both in base wage and OT) and if I'm lucky see them every month or so. The girlfriend want me to try flipping houses with her, and while there is definitely opportunities to make some money, there's also a real chance of losing your ass if you get into something beyond your abilities. And a fairly recent divorce has pretty much wiped me out financially.
  11. I'm not saying it's unreasonable, just that I'd have to save for a little while before I spring for it... Then again, the ain't exactly giving away the Snappy ball joint press, either.
  12. Also, I have used a lot of Estwing hammers at work. Mostly 28oz. framing hammers and the small sledges. I have one 2lb. drilling hammer that I carried, either in the back pocket of my survey vest or in a lath bag, for probably 300 miles while staking a power line in San Diego and Imperial Counties.
  13. I tend to be a little scattered as to what ratchet I use on any one day, but I mainly use just my Snap On mid-length 3/8" drive sockets. They are 12 point (gasp!) buy they've never let me down and never rounded any fasteners.
  14. I assume the Fuel version of the M12 multi tool will be announced the day after I buy the non-Fuel...
  15. What, you were gone? Just kidding. Family first, always.
  16. Yeah, me too. The whole "athlete, pure body" thing didn't work out so well for me...
  17. Thanks, Harold. I'll let you know.
  18. Happy birthday, C-man! That looks like a handy tool kit! But boy, they aren't giving it away, are they. That might go on the list just after the Snap On BJP1 ball joint tool...
  19. I'll echo what others have said, falling off a roof is no fun. This is just a .... forced Fuel upgrade.
  20. Jealous, how did you get them? One of those would look good on my son's tool box, and my Jeep, and my pickup, and....
  21. There is a show on the Weather Channel called 'Highway Through Hell' or something like that, about heavy tow truck operators on a nasty pass in Canada that I find kind of interesting. Never liked Deadliest Catch, IRT, or any of the logging shows. I have a problem with fake drama or things being more dramatic because of stupid decisions....
  22. Teng is getting hard to find in North America. I think Ultimate Garage is about the only place you can find it anymore.
