So I'm wondering what in the world all these different sizes are for. I've been building cedar planter boxes for my wife using a Dewalt framing nailer using 2" ring nails. It works awesome. For trimming them I'm thinking a 15ga angled would make nice for trimming with minimal marking up but still give some structure. Probably wouldn't make a good nailer for trim work. I guess that's what the smaller stuff is for? Why are there sooooo many sizes? What's the benefit of 16 compared to 15? Seems rather insignificant of a difference. Please help me understand. So people really carry around a dozen different Nailers?!?

i have 3 trim nailers, a pin nailer , which is used for very thin stuff and  returns on molding, an 18 ga for smaller molding, and a 15 ga for larger molding, the 15 and 18 usually get used together. if your only going to buy one trim nailer, buy the 16ga. one word of caution, be sure to use a good nail with cedar, or your wind up with tanin stains down the road

Dude, I can't thank you enough for your post. I never thought about running two separate lines for that purpose before. Thats actually a really good idea! You Rock!

thank you sir, that is the set up we used when my brother in law was alive and we were renting a warehouse to work out of. the compressor was tucked  in its own insulated little closet, for sound control,[ had to listen to my music], then we had two lines coming out of closet. it was a really sweet set up. my shop now is alot smaller, but i still have a dedicated line for spraying.

  4. i do use my to apply surface finishes to shop built cabs, etc. when it is called for, so it is necessary to have a dryer hooked up, especially if you are going to be spraying laquer, any kind of moisture and you run the risk of getting

little 'fisheye' blemish in your finish. if you are setting up a shop use and you have the room you can run two lines, one contains a dryer for coatings, and the other has an in-line oiler for your tools

little back story, My father passed away just about 2 yrs ago now (82yrs) and he had a love for woodworking, taught me all I know. He owned a construction company while I grew up and every chance he had he was in his woodworking shop tinkering on some kind of project. Back in the late 60's about 50 some years ago he built some shelving with good old 2"x 8" lumber, this shelving unit he built was always inside so it was just bare wood all the time it was in use. He built it with the good old fashioned hammer and nails. My brother and I was dismantling the shelving unit to make room and I started looking at it and thought, there were hammer marks that he made while putting it together here and there ...what better way to preserve this little part of him and to be in my shop......... so I decided to make a bench top with the same wood he used at one time hammer marks and all. Here it is ready for a sealer and with sealer. now his hammer marks can live on.........

I aways use bostitch and have had a really good experience with them bostitch is owned by Dewalt and I've never had a bad Dewalt tool

i agree, all my air guns are bostitch, no problems, recently picked up the 21 degree framing nailer, not to popular here, plastic collated, but i wanted full round head nail with shank in middle, only gun i think that will handle the hurriquake nail bostitich has. i could be wrong on that though

Fat guy in a little chair... haha This is the patio chair I made for them, I also plan to do a couple like that for the Lego table. They are sturdy, that's for sure!
