Yes Buddy.. It's the 1/4" Router, with the Motor ripped out, and replaced with '3/4' of the Clamshell, motor and electronics of the 20v Cut out tool... Bit of a head crunch to begin with, but pretty easy in the end... Only thing I couldn't get working was the Electronic speed control (I'll let Dewalt figure that one out) or any electronics to stop the battery draining too low.. My Guess is that you'll hear the battery draining, and switch out as soon as you think it's starting to spin below optimum RPM...

When you need it Cordless but your Favourite Brand doesn't have one in their Line-up, it's time to start 'Modding'.. My Version of Deawalt 18v (20v Max) Li-ion Cordless 1/4" Router... And yes, it is Flex Volt compatible...

If you look at the battery photo in the OP, there are 2 recesses, lower down and to the left and right of terminals B+ and B-.. The Red transport clip has two tags that locate into these, and push them inwards, thus initiating the 'disconnect' within the battery...

Plunge Saw will be October this year DooDar, so you'll be spending sooner than you think...

Not sure on the negativity towards the 'so called' inferior model... Base has been changed to reduce weight, and slightly cheaper manufacturing no doubt, plus the fact that if you were to have an accident and 'drop' the saw, then it's only a replacement plastic handle rather than a whole new base.... Also, the UK/EU version of the saw boasts a 10" pull-out versus the 8" on the US version.... The handle on the front actually lifts up slightly and then locks 'positively' into the pre-set indents similar to most other Dewalt saws...

Yep... Thats my Van Guys... What do you Guys want to know??... There aren't any updates to this Tool Connect system since it's launch, but there are some interesting 'muted' ongoing ideas for future benefits.. All of which (I'm afraid) are under the terms of an NDA....

Agree with what you are saying to an extent. I think my feelings are in terms of wanting Dewalt to be 'World Leaders' of innovation and first to market with everything, where they seem (in recent years) to have been playing follow my leader.. However, I think I'm correct in saying that they were first to Market with the 'Charger' Site radio, and the Gas-less Second Fix Nail gun (10+ yrs ago), also the Gas-less First Fix Framing Nailer (only one on the market), the soon to be released 'Brushless' Cordless planer, and the ...!!!! (oh yes, I can't mention that yet...Lol..).. I think them playing 'second fiddle' for a while, is due to their R&D into the switching of Battery packs from 'Stem Packs' to 'Slide packs'.. Some other manufacturers were not so diligent with this, and hence they have dropped a clanger and frustrated their own end users when it comes to compatibility between their own 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 amp/hr battery packs.. Something you have no issue with when it comes to Dewalt.. Now the Foundations are sorted, I think that the confidence in the Product is reflected in Sales, hence profitability and potential greater funding for their engineering teams to slowly become the 'Innovative' Brand we once knew... Well, thats my 2 Cents worth anyway...

On the original XPS saws, it cam with a little 'pin' that clipped into the trigger to make it 'safe'.. However it is not something that comes with the saws nowadays.. However, it is useful when in Retail displays and at Shows, as you can 'lock' the trigger facility and allow the end user to see the advantages of the XPS light.. Bluetooth batteries do bring a lot of 'advantages' for sure.. The fact that I can have all my tools disabled when I pop down the shops is somewhat satisfying...

I test tools for Dewalt in the UK, and we have to sign NDA's (Non disclosures).. This particular 'episode' is part of a bigger picture which will all become apparent 'soon'... It's not just Dewalt who would be upset at this problem, as any of the Manufacturers would feel the same.. Big Up to TIA for respecting their relationship with Dewalt, and acting accordingly... The fact that this particular unit hit the headlines and ended up where it did will surely spark some 'reviews' of who, what, when and where... This time next year the full picture will become clear.... 'Mum's the Word'....

'That' light is nothing short of Epic... Incredible difference in my opinion.. I have the 2 speed Gen 2 and love it...

I love this Gun, and the Collated attachment is second to none...

My Van made it to the middle of a UK show last week... I think the Europeans need to do the same with Mr Yellow... Or maybe both of ours.. lol..

If I could post up a pic of what Ive been doing with it recently I would, but I think I'd get shot.. Let's just say the 'Makita' boys on site are all over it, and they are more than likely jumping ship to 'Black and Yellow' based on this Saw and another couple of items I have on test... I've cut a whole Roof (very large) with the DCS391 18V Cordless Skill Saw, and have cut all the Studwork and counter battening with the Cordless Chop-Saw...

Just FYI Guys... I am testing the EU model as we speak, and it totally rocks.. As far as the weight, it is superb.. I've been dragging it from the Van, 500m to my Jobsite, and then up three flights, all by the carry handles of the 'extended' saw base... I totally agree with the black 'v' yellow dials, and although I haven't had any issues, the yellow could be better... As for the 'Turn Knob' to lock.. it has the standard indents on the base, and you actually 'pinch' the turn handle and saw base between finger and thumb, squeeze them together and rotate to base to suit.. However, it is a requirement to turn to 'lock' in the obscure angles... The advantage I can see is that the turn knob projects very little compared to the US 'clamp style' and could be less likely to become damaged on the Jobsite...
