  1. Dewalt invited me to do surveys some time back, and a couple weeks ago they had me do one on some "prospective" tools. One of them was indeed a spotlight looking rig, of course there wasn't any speck or much hard info but it looked like it would do the trick. And of course, it could be 5 years before it ever hits a store shelf knowing dewalt, lol
  2. Thank you everyone, I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I'm sure it just needs more break in time by your responses, like I had mentioned, I've used it quite a bit but certainty not everyday hard. My DCD985 that came with the kit had a similar issue at first; it would literally throw sparks clear out of the vents the first few seconds of use but that came out of it real fast and I haven't used it that much because I'm still so amazed with my first impact driver and how I ever drove a screw with out it, lol. As far as the DCF885 goes, I believe it is running as good as its supposed to, I have this scrap of PT 4X4 that ill take a 3" deck screw and and a 3 1/2" driver bit and drive a screw into the end grain till it either snaps the screw or I bury it up the the quick release chuck, just for fun or to show of to my buddies with ryobi crap:-)
  3. I bought the drill/driver kit back last October and was just curious if any one else's DCF885 20v impact has a burning smell when you use it? Now I haven't used it that much in the grand scheme of things, I'm disabled and use it for DIY stuff but I've, driven about 3+ pounds of screws anyway not to mention I throw on a socket adapter and have used it on the seemingly never ending auto and snowblower repairs since I've got it. Other then the smell it works awesome, it's my first impact driver and I'm shocked with its capabilities, I have the hammer drill too but only really use it if I have something w/o a 1/4" shank. I'd it not broke in yet or is it getting ready to break?
