Thank you everyone, I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I'm sure it just needs more break in time by your responses, like I had mentioned, I've used it quite a bit but certainty not everyday hard. My DCD985 that came with the kit had a similar issue at first; it would literally throw sparks clear out of the vents the first few seconds of use but that came out of it real fast and I haven't used it that much because I'm still so amazed with my first impact driver and how I ever drove a screw with out it, lol. As far as the DCF885 goes, I believe it is running as good as its supposed to, I have this scrap of PT 4X4 that ill take a 3" deck screw and and a 3 1/2" driver bit and drive a screw into the end grain till it either snaps the screw or I bury it up the the quick release chuck, just for fun or to show of to my buddies with ryobi crap:-)
