  1. I tried to replace the type 1 guard with a type 27 guard for the 4 1/2 inch cutoff tool and encountered a challenge. The guard just won't come off. Is there any trick to do this? Appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this. Thank you.
  2. Thank you. I also checked with a local service center and they told me I needed to flip the threaded clamp for the flat cutting wheel. The other side is for the special tool even though the threaded clamp has a confusing mark that says 'this side against the wheel'. You are right that the backing flange is already installed and could not even be taken off. Anyway, it is ok now. Thank you for your help. Rex
  3. Hi, When I tried to install the cutting wheel that comes with the tool (4 1/2 x.045" x 7/8" DW8062) onto the tool, the wheel wobbles after tightening. Am I missing something? The tool has the type 1 guard, and when i check the manual picture (not much explanation) of the type 1 installation pieces, there is a piece called unthreaded backing flange. I could not find this piece anywhere in the package of the tool. Can someone help to clarify this? Secondly, I also bought separately a pack of 5 cutting wheels ( 4" x .045" x 5/8"). Does this fit the tool (i have not opened the package fearing that this is not the right wheel for this tool)? Thank you for your help. Rex
  4. Found the tool model in the list this part fits for. Thank you for your help.
  5. Thank you for the reply. I went to the link provided and found the part number. However, it does not explain whatsoever whether it is a type 27 guard(or what kind of wheels it is meant for), and what size of grinder/cutoff tools it fits (4 1/2, 7, or 9 inches). Do you know where I can find more info about this part? Thank you.
  6. I bought an 18V 4 1/2" cutoff tool and it came with a type 1 guard. It says in the manual that for grinding wheels i will need to get a type 27 guard. I searched everywhere (including De Walt site) but could not find a type 27 guard for 4 1/2 grinder/cutoff tool. The only ones i found was for 7" and 9" large grinding tools. Can someone help to clarify whether i have the right understanding? Can i use 7" guard for the 4 1/2 cutoff tool? If not, where can i get a type 27 guard for my 18V 4 1/2" cutoff tool then? Thank you for your help.
