  1. Rrich1, sorry to hijack your thread.. I don't use much cordless OPE but it seems like ego is a strong choice.. Like Korno said, you may want to consider Makita for their X2 36v line. The brushless Trimmer and new brushless blower are supposed to be great, they also currently have a chainsaw that member ChrisK has and raves about.. if you could wait it out for the new one I'm sure it would be insane. Cost wise I'm sure it won't be the cheapest line to get into but they make really top quality tools and the other benefit is then you would also have access to makitas huge 18v line with the same batteries you use for the 36v stuff (makitas 36v uses 2 of their standard 18v)
  2. Sweet! What other bits of info are you keeping secret?!?!
  3. A Makita brushless chainsaw you say! Ooh LA LA. I've barely been able to resist the X2 chainsaw so far almost buying guide it a few times. You just gave me the extra strength I needed! Lol
  4. Welcome motoman! Glad to have you here Ride safe!!
  5. Wow that's pretty slick.. I'm also betting there will be a core charge.. but you could really just pull into the parking lot of your auto parts store, unhook it, walk in and hand the old one in while buying a new one.
  6. I've only had to bring in one makita tool for warranty but they made it a very simple process. I'm sure they will take good care of you.. The Canada tools might be an issue if they have different model numbers than the same US tools but who knows.
  7. I second you on that top quality opinion!! I have a service shop near by and have only ever had a premature failure with one tool out of my now 25-30 cordless tools. A very old model 3 speed lxt drill. It was in warranty and fixed without hassle and quickly. Every single one of my makita cordless tools that I have been using for up to 7 or 8 years professionally are still alive, well and making me money!! They just don't die and I have put some of them through hell 8 years is sick on a battery! I've still got one 6 year old in use and 2-5 year olds. All the rest are newer
  8. Ooh aaah. Very very nice!! I'm a little jealous, not gonna lie!
  9. Exactly. Pretty crazy stuff. The grain pattern in burl is wild and beautiful, that and the rarity is what makes them so expensive. I wish if I ever had a massive wart or funky defect that I could cut it off and sell it for lots of money!
  10. Makita girls.. huh.. what... did I hear someone say makita girls!!!
  11. That wood looks great in projects like that. It's kinda like a little gem that some of it was spalted because now it's like you have two different woods to work with!!
  12. Not sure of the species but it looks spalted to me.. a fungus in the wood. Sugar maple is a common wood that this happens too..
  13. If your talking about the bolt inside the chuck that holds it to the drill then I'm 99% sure that is reverse thread. Clockwise to loosen it. They can be pretty stubborn even without rust
  14. What about something that could wire into the micro USB of the phone? I don't need a backup camera often but it would be nice for things like hitching my trailer.. I already have a nice dash mount for my phone so it got me thinking it would be nice to use the phone when I wanted it, keep the cost down and keep the clutter in the truck down I'll take a look at the taxi brothers, thankeep you
  15. Wow. That's a whole lot of sick tools!! That Mafell cordless stuff is Seay That Milwaukee rat rod is a pretty neat piece of marketing! Those door cutouts look sweet
