  1. Yea I think the knob in it directs the chip exhaust

    Jimbo

    correct

I fired it up last night and with my shop vac attached and there was virtually no mess at all. Quite a difference from the flying wood chip storm that I've seen with another planer.

  2. I assume win is a good thing? In which case sign me up, cause I could use a cup of win this morning.

A thing can be full of win. It can be full of fail. This thread has awesomeness in such abundance that it runneth overeth.

  3. For those that are into the Ryobi 18v line up, I present the SureBonder 18v glue gun!

No need to wait for Black & Decker to release their cordless glue gun and don't even need a new battery platform because it runs on Ryobi batteries.

  4. TTI's budget line is Ryobi. Next up is Ridgid and on top of the price heap is Milwaukee. You probably ought not to expect that the new Milwaukee Fuel nailers would be cheap.

Milwaukee prices all of their tools higher than a lot of the competition because they knew that people will pay for them, simple as that. Are they worth the price? That's a personal decision between you and your tool budget, but it's the same conversation whether your buying Festool green, Dewalt yellow or Woodpecker "shiny OMG I just have to have a $200 square" anodized red.

  5. I was in the depot today checking out some light switches when I saw that the Milwaukee organizers went up in price and are now $25. The home depot app confirms that it wasn't just my store.

I thought the "new, lower price" was permanent, but I guess not. Not that it's a huge deal, but I should have stocked up last week when they were still cheaper.

  6. I just got around to checking this site out- good deals to be had on a lot of things.

I've got a question for anyone that's ordered from them. I see that they calculate shipping to the US. Is that the actual price that you pay in CAD? Are there any hidden gotchas such as import taxes that you find out about when you go to take delivery?

  7. I picked one up two years ago in a BF sale for $50 for the kit. I don't use a ton, but what I have used it for (cutting off bolts, drywall cutting, notching trim, and light sanding to remove rust) it did a great job. It's compatible with all of the Dremel attachments I've bought and more powerful than some of the other cordless dremels I've used in the past.

  8. So far I like the form factor of the Fein better. It's minor but it just seems to feel better while holding it. Next up will be a vibration comparison. The soft starts are two different animals as well. The Bosch has a pause and then ramps up to full speed pretty quickly. The Fein is much more gradual.

I've got the Dewalt 20v OMT. Sometimes I feel it's underpowered cutting hard woods. Would a corded Bosch be a significant upgrade or should I just but better blades? Other than vibration and blade changing mechanisms, I'm honestly not sure what the big differentiators are with OMTs.

  9. At the end of the day both are equally important I will probably go with the mitersaw first. c512aad55e6755e98adfab531e1a4ceb.jpg this is the one I was looking at the other day

If you're looking at a 12", you might as well spend the extra $100 and get a slider. I'm in the go big or go compact camp - nothing in between.

  10. I heat my house with a wood stove. Stacking wood in the summer and carrying it in all winter is hard on work gloves and they rarely last a full year.

I was in the depot the other day and saw these, so I figure I'd give them a shot to see how they hold up to several tons of firewood.

  12. Damn - that's a smoking deal you got there BM. As far as the nails that it takes, you can buy them anywhere. The thing to remember is, even though the magazine is a 33 degree, it will take 30 degree nails. I actually wasn't able to find 33s at my depot, so I ordered a box from Amazon before I figured out the compatibility with 30s. The other problem with depot is that they only sell framing nails in giant boxes for framing out a house. If you want smaller quantity, say 500 or 1000 instead of committing to 5000, you have to shop Lowes or online.
