  1. This vise will replace a tilting Wilton vise on my basement workbench. I need a stronger vise in the basement. To really clamp something I have a real old blacksmith vise in my garage that I'm tired of walking the stairs to use. I'm about to build a woodworking bench for my basement workshop and I might to mount the Wilton on it so I can tilt it up or down below the woodworking bench surface. That was the plan until I saw this vise-less workbench today. One can never have enough vices but this bench seems pretty neat. Just wack the holdfast and it's clamped. My father had a wedge shaped wood clamp on his workbench that was fast and easy to use. Just put the piece to be clamped into the clamp then wack the wedge with a hammer then wack the other end to release it. This bench reminded me of that.
  2. Thanks, You guys convinced me. I'm going to keep the Craftsman vise.
  3. I have read good about the Craftsman but also read that a guy bent the jaws working on a driveshaft. He replaced it with a 6" HF vise and it has held up better. Don't know how true and makes me hesitate. I imagine the HF vise is a cheap grey iron construction. I assume 60K ductile is stronger? More or less brittle?
  4. I found a Craftsman Professional 4 1/2 inch vise yesterday. This was a clearance item ($95) seems that Sears does not carry this vise anymore. Wondering if anyone has any experience with this vise? Should I keep this or get the 6 inch Harbor Freight for half the price? Specs Made with 60,000 PSI iron 4 1/2" 360 swivel Clamp or Vise Maximum Capacity: 600Clamping Force: 500 lbs.Vise Max Open:4 in.Clamp or Vise Depth Of Throat (In): 3-1/4 in.Weight (lbs.): 41
  5. Was told that ground up protects from piece of metal falling on exposed plug and causing a short.
  6. Christmas is comming! Black Friday is comming! Save up for the sales & deals!
  7. The extra weight is for the paperwork you will have to fill out. ;-)
  8. One of the reasons I use Milwaukee. Now if only my car dealer would give service like that!
  9. I was the tech wizard in our IT area. Was the go to guy for windows XP, Unix, IBM mainframe and SQL database. Spent many hours reading tech publications to keep ahead. Then retired and in a short time the tech world passed me by. Figured it was better to know physical things like woodworking and carpentry where your knowledge would still be relevant for years. Now with all the new cordless tools coming out it seems technology is changing the best practices in these trades at a fast pace also. I can see One Key being another game changer causing changes we have not even thought of yet. We probably will wonder how we did things before we could fine tune our tools.
  10. During rush hour traffic I do not use my turn signal to change lanes. Whenever I use my turn signal the person in the lane speeds up so I can't get in front of them. Ouch where did that boxing glove come from? I only do this during rush hour traffic. Extreme times call for extreme actions.
  11. I have been brushless ever since I went bald.
  12. Oh I remember Massachusetts, We took a vacation that started out in Maine but the water was a little cold so we decided to drive down to Cape Cod. The trip on the Interstate was uneventful but as soon as we got off the exit things changed. On the road to Cape Cod people were tailgating and blowing their horn. It was so bad that within a few miles we decided to turn around and head west. The drive thru Mass was stressful so much so all we wanted to do get out of Mass before stopping for the night. At about midnight I let my wife drive and I nodded out in the passenger seat about 1AM I awoke because someone had blown their horn behind us and then passed us on an empty three lane road??? Is that the way out of state drivers are greeted in Massachusetts? We have traveled in all 48 states and our experience in Massachusetts is the most memorable. We have avoided Massachusetts ever since.
  13. New arrivals in a couple weeks? I feel like a kid b4 Christmas.
  14. I do the same. There is a relationship between how close they tailgate and how fast I go. Most figure it out and back-off.
  15. I never had to come to blows. Maybe because I use a different tactic someone else told me to try. When their yelling at you and giving the finger I smile and wave and say "I love you too". You should see the confused look you get and most just drive away. I used to be the fastest guy in the fast lane. The guy you would say watch out for that guy. I liked having other drivers watch out for me. But now that I'm retired my wife is with me and gives me too much grief so I have slowed down some and began to experience these strange people behind me. The only one's that scare me are mostly young girls tailgating that are barely in control of their car.
  16. In the last couple years I have noticed more and more people get up right behind you? Some to intimidate so they can pass. I let them pass and consider them "my sponsor". A sponsor is someone going fast before me that will get the ticket if a police patrol is ahead. But more than ever I'm encountering people coming up behind and when I move to another lane they drop into the same lane staying behind me?
  17. He had about 40 feedbacks all good but his start date was Feb of this year, that was a red flag, but I had waited so long I took a chance. The next day my heart sank. My listing said "Last One" the next day was another listing exactly like the one I bought and it said "Last One". The next day another duplicate listing so I braced myself for a no show.
  18. The Ebay seller of the 2457-20 turned out to be a get the "money and run" seller. So I did not get the 2457-20. I did put in a claim to Ebay and they refunded my money. I had thought my wait for a bargain was over but when the 2457-20 did not come I could not wait any longer so I took my Harbor Freight 20% coupon and started trying to get 20% off on the 2457-20 at Home Depot. It took six try's but finally found a cashier that took 20% off.

I have a corded multitool for years and have not used it yet. Seems you guys use it a lot. What uses do you have for it?
  20. Ditch the compressor? Why get rid of any tool? Sacrilege!
  21. When I bought my 2763 it was to replace my air impact that I only pulled out for those tight rusted nuts. I'm finding many more uses for it. This week I went to replace the blades on my lawn tractor. The bolts holding the blades where so tight that I started to find a block of wood to hold the blade as I take a breaker bar to loosen the nut. Then I thought about the 2763. I grabbed it and seconds later three blades where off.
  22. Get two 2.0 batteries. Charge one while using the other and you have a small, light tool.
  23. Just ordered a 2457-20 M12 3/8 ratchet off Ebay. The 2654-20 @ HD is not on sale yet or with a free battery  still too new Thanks for letting me know of the deals though!
