  1. Our district has a huge "Career Acadamy" that is a arm of the High School. It's like a dream workshop, big CNC machines, 3D Printers, HVAC, Carpentry, Robotics, Electronics, Automotive, Welding, and more. It's pretty awesome. It's on the same grounds has the HS, and is really popular with the students. Having 2 boys, who also have a lot of friends, actually enjoy "working with their hands". In fact, one of his buddies replaced the transmission in his truck. I understand, that it may not be has big as it once was, but there are still plenty of kids that like to get their hands dirty. There is a pretty big "Maker" movement out there too. Just my 2 pennies on the subject, and I am sure it is a regional thing to.
  2. Welcome Back! (Every time I hear that, the Welcome Back Kotter theme song gets stuck in my head)
  3. Very cool! Looking forward to more videos of your projects, inspirational!
  4. I don't have a magic coffee table, but I do have this magic basket in the bathroom. Every time it gets full, it empties itself, and every thing that was in it, ends up clean.
  5. Yeah, Friday was 76, and the next day, we got our first snowfall, thank god no accumulation though.
  6. Good Day Crew! Is there any interest in watching folks live stream from their workshop, while they are working on projects? I been tossing around the idea, of using Twitch, Periscope, or some other streaming options, and stream my shop time. I am looking into the possibility of having multiple cameras, and some sort of display, to monitor and interact with with the audience. I kinda fell out of love with creating YouTube Videos, although I do plan on making some here and there. I have a bunch of projects lined up for my Grandson, and I would like to share, but not sure I want to invest the time it takes to setup shots for a videos. So, I was thinking I could just live stream it, and maybe just upload the live stream. I do like video editing in Final Cut Pro, but setting up camera angles does take quite a bit of shop time.
  7. Speaking of measuring type tools, after purchasing several "cheaper" solutions, I finally broke down a Woodpecker Mini-Square. Sure it's a little pricey, but it's second to none, in my opinion. http://www.woodpeck.com/minisquare.html
  8. I love watching these types of videos, I bought a 5 DVD set when the kids were little about big machines. It was geared towards kids, but super fun to watch.
  9. Sadly, it's been cloudy here, so I missed out.
  10. We are getting Gigabit in my area soon, but honestly I am more concerned with Upload speed. I would love Gigabit uploads, for uploading stuff to YouTube, Vimeo, and doing webcasts.
  11. That is Awesome Chris! Wishing the best to you and yours, God Bless! And my prayers are with your family. -Steven
  12. 2 votes from me so far.. also sent the link to my Scale Model Building and Railroad friends
  13. The thing with battery tech, the tool companies, from what I understand doesn't really "invent" anything. They just use what the suppliers have available, although the Flex-Volt stuff is pretty neat in the way it uses those batteries. From what I learned from AvE teardown, the batteries are just Panasonic, Samsung, or some other company.
  14. It really hurts me to hear stories like this, drivers not paying attention to traffic signs and the like. My prayers go out to your friend and their family. Please keep us posted!
  15. We had a thread like this a few years ago I think. But my dream ride would be a mid 70s Chevy truck body on a modern Chevy chassis. Something about those square bodies I absolutely love! It would be a toss-up between Chevy Orange or completely flat/mat black, completely blacked out, stealth style.
  16. That's why back in the day, when bars closed at 2am in Wisconsin, we would head to Chicago, were the bars closed after 5am. Then back to Wisconsin where bars opened at 6am LOL. Please Note: this was a long long time ago, things were different back then.
  17. How long does it take to polish all those chrome rims?
  18. In my younger days, it meant an extra hour of drinking in the tavern. Now, it's celebrated with an "extra" hour of sleep.
  19. How does one bid/buy one of these beautiful items?
  20. This thread is going to be Yuuuuuuuuuge!!!
  21. What an awesome game!!! Not that big into sports, however I was rooting for the Cubs! Great memories of going to Wrigley. Maybe The Brewers will return to the World Series some year.
  22. I wish DeWalt would come out with a cabinet table saw, but until them I been thinking of doing a Comp conversion, but DeWalt colors. --Look through posts to see the wonderful work of Comp, and his Milwaukee repaints.
  23. Man, the ball park was electric! Wish I could have been there, but watching the coverage on the tube, was pretty intense.
  24. I completely understand, this year has been the worst year in my world. But one thing for sure, the TIACREW are the best folks bar none! We will always be here waiting for you, and look forward to reading your posts. Wishing the best to you and yours! -Steven
  25. Had to work super late tonight, but happy to hear the Cubbies are still in it! Just hope it was not a set up for the Clev to win at home....
