  1. I didn't even notice the wireless charging on there. Great attention to detail nalu. Figures I'm the one who needs the joke explained XP Strangest thing about the AC/DC thing is that some long transmission lines use DC now because inversion has gotten more efficient and there's no capacitive loss.
  2. Seems like every year is the best yet so next year should be even better
  3. I actually dislike orbital. With proper pressure and proper tooth count you can cut faster in demo and putting pressure on it in orbital means more vibration plus a worse off blade if you hit metal. Might be I'm doing something wrong or just different though.
  4. Tesla was a strong proponent of alternating current though.
  5. The armature is the motor windings (ie. the thing that was smoking) so I'd be impressed if that doesn't fix it.
  6. Problem is eggbeater "bits" work in pairs. A few minutes with pliers and you can make them work great individually though. You can apply power tools and fluid dynamics to cooking simultaneously!
  7. If by kit you mean drill and impact, Makita's new subcompact brushless kit is $230, and I don't think you can do bettery for the price point. After that I think the good ones go up to around $200 bare tool which isn't exactly what you want. I love makita's impacts, but you definitely pay a premium for them.
  8. Great job. I can't even remember the last time mine looked that clean. Somehow hasn't needed repairs yet though so fingers crossed.
  9. The problem is 60t is a lot of teeth for rough cuts. Thin ply is the only thing I could find they were decent for. They've started marking down a ton of stuff online in the last couple days but nothing that great. Then there's this wacky thing I ran into that I've never seen before... http://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-Drywall-Nose-Adaptor-for-Impact-Drivers-194633-2/205182378
  10. Homeowners dread spending a fortune on batteries later to keep their old tools working. Having $10 batteries on the shelf will help a lot of kits sell for Christmas and they can normalize the price later.
  11. Almost like the playstation clusters. I think the price for 1500mah cells is pretty low now though.
  12. I think the op one moves each blade independently so they're always cutting linearly whereas that one would be moving the blades at a 45 degree angle near the corners. It might just not matter though.
  13. They must have gone to the extreme of high energy low power cells. Power tools are really on the opposite end with high power lower energy capacity cells
  14. Any chance it's the same people who made this?
  15. The collet nut is stripped? Replacing it would be a lot cheaper. I've heard the quick release has some bugs.
  16. 5-3/8 is a standard blade size just really uncommon
  17. My Lowes has the lenox blades in a lot of sizes, at least 4 and 5 inch. Maybe 9 inch too.

Great way to keep it from getting stolen. People will assume it's just the cheap homeowner line and don't bother.
  19. I think part of the differences is tesla moving to 20700 so in addition to the 30% volume increase the cells themselves have a higher performance. The Bosch 6.0 batteries would often have a shorter runtime than 5.0 because at high draw the battery wasted more energy and heated up.
  20. What about the compact 3ah? That seems really questionable.
  21. Not to mention they're black. It's a shame they just updated the entire 12V line. $229 seems reasonable. You can't expect the price tag to be as small as the tools. In fact looking at home depot it's on the lower end of entry level brushed kit prices despite being top of the line brushless.
  22. From the pictures it looks like they use them in the 20V 6.0 That depends on if the tools is capable of using the extra power, and before you ask I have no idea which ones. It will also take longer to overheat in heavy use for any tool.
  23. First off, it's going to be a bit bigger and heavier, not flexvolt big but a little, hopefully to avoid the problems Bosch had. Also the 6ah batteries tend to have a significant premium over the other batteries because of the expensive cells they use. It's almost 100% increase in price for up to a 20% increase in runtime. That's not worth it in my book. I'm happy to seem them push the 5ah prices down though.
  24. The firing mechanism is a highly compressed nitrogen cylinder. There are much worse things that are probably going wrong at that point.
