  1. Pop Mechanics put this page up and there are some real head scratchers. Some make me physically ill when I think how dangerous some are. Just a lot of WOW's, and not the good kind... http://www.popularmechanics.com/home/outdoor-projects/how-to/g2409/23-home-inspection-nightmares-that-really-happened/ I think my fav is #5 tool storage.
  2. I thought about it then realized the first thing I would do if done to me would be to contact paypal and I wasn't too sure how they deal with "jokes" lol
  3. I have the 40v hedge trimmer and it works great, for the money it really can't be beat.
  4. They probably wanted to be closer to Dan and Eric. They just don't get enough reviews from people who don't remember, or bother to look at the specs, before rolling the video Not to mention the fighting between the two which adds so much unique flavor to the reviews...
  5. That kit was a beast, almost 20 lbs and wasn't cheap to ship. I was tempted as a joke to send an old broken ryobi drill and an old school impact driver a.k.a. "a brick" as a joke a day earlier to Knarly but he's fairly new and didn't want to piss him off lol.
  6. Hey this is my ancient M18 sale thread! Where is my sales commission! JK... I'm glad after months of forgetting about my kit that was for sale I managed to get it a good home and maybe help others find homes for their neglected Milwaukee tools
  7. Probably some kind of defect during manufacture it's such a clean break. I wonder if its also some kind of scintered powdered metal like they use for gears these days...
  8. Yeah lol. It's sold to knarly. Part of it taking so long is I kinda just forgot about it and been busy.
  9. It looks like knarlycarl wants it but if not you can have dibbs...
  10. Yeah no offense but Apple doesn't make any iPhones for $20. Their ARM CPU's alone probably cost that much and they design their own so they even have tons of R&D buried in those costs too. There are many financial sites that put out BOM's, build of materials, and iPhones tend to run about $150-$180 to build but still that doesn't take marketing, distribution, software costs (Apple doesn't get free software like Android hardware makers do - they have to roll their own) and R&D into the costs. It's only what all the pieces cost and maybe some assembly. Apple's margins tend to be consistently around 40-45%, healthy to be sure but not 1000% either. Apple adds lots of their own IP to their products like their proprietary OS and software and their in-house CPU designs which you can't get anywhere else. The problem with Snap On is they don't seem to add anything you can't get elsewhere cheaper. Their boxes are the same metal as any other box and their tools for the most part aren't really unique and it's questionable if they are better quality for the prices they command.
  11. Comp ain't normal but I like it
  12. No one forced anyone to buy anything. Your "buddies", if you can call them that, are more responsible for the peer pressure IMHO. Not to be overly harsh but a fool and his money are soon separated and if it wasn't Snap On doing the separating then it would be someone else doing it. There are worse things in life than overpaying for tools. It will be a valuable lesson learned one way or another. It really only makes sense to pay a premium for tools if they are really better quality, superior technology, and or they are the only ones available to do the job due to patents or specialty... A Knipex Pliers Wrench comes to mind. Metal tool boxes and most of Snap On's big sellers are practically commodity items these days so much of it doesn't make sense for their prices. At least with tools you can sell them though, its not like a divorce where you have to pay half of everything you own to get out of the deal If anything even the trade schools should concentrate on some business and money management classes before students even pick up a wench because failed businesses and people in debt for bad decisions help no one. That all being said I think Snap On is good quality but still priced above what they probably should be but they wouldn't do it if they couldn't command the price. It is sad that they are cashing in on the name like Jasonc mentions which makes me think they aren't as healthy financially as they could be.
  13. That does look pretty good, this thread is starting to get expensive
  14. Comp above linked it with photos, looks like a rebadge of the husky one and it doesn't look well liked so probably gonna pass on it.
  15. Cool, thanks for the info. I've never see them before so it'll be cheaper to look for the husky labeled ones.
  16. Just over $50 and free shipping... I'll prob bite the bullet on that. I have a couple of projects it'll come in handy for so I have all my excuses in order
  17. Nice. It'll be nice to hear a review... If I wait long enough for your order to come in that is. Free shipping and the upside of it being cheaper due to the exchange rate makes it an even better deal for something that looks like nice quality.
  18. That's cool, I didn't think about them being down under. Good to know.
  19. Same here but misery loves company. I like their carpenter pencil too. I might have to order that too.
