Instructions can be deceiving. The spring tension on the ratchet itself is very manageable. Once you put it back together, putting the plate on is not a problem. At least that was my experience with the ratchet.

Honestly it's really simple to put back together. The grease will help quite it down some and it be a bit smoother too. But I will be fine if you put the super lube on it.
