  1. Well, I was in the market for a new 12" trim saw. Did some research, saw Home Depot is offering the DW716 with a free $100 stand. I figured I would buy the saw and return the stand, get a great deal on a new saw. Then I got to thinking....Lowe's price matches plus they beat the competitors price by 10%! I called the local Lowe's to make sure both were in stock and wandered on over. This deal took a managers approval and sign off as they are taking a big hit. All told the below deal took an hour of my time, mostly waiting. Lowe's DW716 price is $349 - price matched HD $299 price - comped the DWX725B stand ($107) - took 10% off of the $299 + Bonus Lowe's 10% coupon I had in my pocket = $242.19 + tax They didn't actually comp the stand, just heavily discounted it to get my final price. Going to return it and get the $60 back. Saw is a fantastic deal then. Win for me! -purchased 5 of the Lowe's 10% off coupons from Ebay for $5. The seller emailed them to me within 5 minutes. Easy peasy.
  2. Update for those curious. Spoke to DeWalt today as well as a local tool repair center. There is no difference in the original 'add on' XPS light and the current built in XPS lights. DeWalt could not give me any details on the LED, not even a lumen output. The main difference I could find in the old DW716 (Type 1-4) versus the newer DW716 is the motor turns at 3800rpm on the new type 20 versus 3600rpm on the older models.
  3. If you are on a budget. Check out Ridgids Pro Tool Box set that is stackable. Just as tough as the DeWalt tough box at a fraction of the price. I have a bunch and love them! The now oven an open top tote that latches on as well. Home Depot is having a Black Friday deal where you get the large rolling bottom tote, medium tote, and small organizer tote for $98. That is great deal. Check them out if you haven't yet.
  4. I am wondering if there is a difference in the DeWalt XPS lighting that comes factory on the 12" sliding miter saw (DW780) and 12" dual bevel miter saw (DW716XPS) versus adding the LED light kit (PN: DWS7085). There is no information that I could find. I am not sure if they are the same LED or if the XPS system is brighter. I am purchasing a DW716 12" dual bevel saw. I have the add on LED light kit on my old DW718 12" slider that I am getting rid of that I could swap to the new DW716. If the factory installed XPS light system is better then I would just buy the DW716XPS saw. Thoughts? Thanks, Travis
  5. On a side note. I tried to use at Lowe's 10% off coupon in conjunction with the $150 promo and it would not take the 10% off. I can't remember if the cashier or computer said that only one discount could be added on a single order. This was in North Florida. Any tips on when to give them the discount coupon? I am going to try having them ring up the Lowe's coupon before the expensive drill kit and see if that helps.
  6. Just return the drill kit and get your money back. You then keep the extra tool you got at the heavily discounted price. Everyone is doing it. I now have 3 new bare tools and a fresh set of batteries.
  7. I just purchased one of these from Home Depot today. It wasn't on the floor yet. I had an employee get one of the 2 they had in stock sitting high on the shelf. I managed to talk the store manager and tool department manager into using this bare tool with the big Makita drill set to get the $150 off promotion! They weren't happy about doing it but I kept telling them that the sign states 'any bare tool' in conjunction with the large kit. I can't wait to use it!
  8. I have the bigger 20v blower. Love it! Use it all the time in the garage and after mowing. I use the smaller Makita for high velocity air movement to clean off my tools after use. Keep it in the work trailer or workshop. DeWalt DCBL720 - 400 CFM 90 MPH Makita DUB182Z - 91 CFM 179 MPH Milwaukee 0884-20 - 100 CFM 160 MPH DeWalt DCE100 - 100 CFM 135 MPH Ridgid R860430 - 280 CFM 100 MPH Having just put this together and looking at all the specs I think I will stick with my Makita as it has the fastest moving air speed which helps with sawdust removal from my tools. I will say that I think DeWalt really missed the mark on this one. They were last to the small blower game and came with a design matching that of the 8+ year old design of the Makita. It's a shame they didn't up the specs or run time with a brushless model. None the less, it is great to finally have the small blower option in the 20v lineup as it is extremely handy. I still want to try it out.
  9. I currently have the Makita small handheld blower. I am seriously eyeing the DeWalt if it is any better as 90% of my tools/batteries are DeWalt. The blowers appear to be nearly identical though.
  10. My local Lowes had 6 of the DeWalt 20v trimmer at $179 sale price. That priced dropped to $143 for a while, none sold. Just checked again, a week after the $143 price drop, and they are back up to the full $199 price. I purchased the last blower in my area Lowes locations last month.
  11. I have looked at these in the store but not bought any. I own about 8 of the DeWalt/Stanley deep pro organizers which are full of nails/screws/bolts/rivets ect. I had though about using the DeWalt/Stanley deep pro with all the 'cups' removed to store my Bosch 12v tools and such. I see the TIA crew is doing that with the Milwaukee boxes. Those that have compared and/or used both the Milwaukee and DeWalt/Stanley organizers, can you comment on if one is more rigid and the other? What is better about the Milwaukee? DeWalt? I know that the Milwaukee is a bit larger and the lid can open with others clip on top. This could be a pain if the tops boxes are loaded and heavy, I presume. Thanks, Travis
  12. The impact is not designed by Fein, it is outsourced to TTI, which makes Milwaukee, and therefor is nearly identical to the brushed Milwaukee impact. Fein does not make a brushless impact to go with the AFSC 18 brushless drill/driver that is on clearance.
  13. I too have the DeWalt OMT and am on the fence about purchasing this deal. I bought the drill even though I have the 2 DeWalt brushless drills. I am not sure I would use it enough to justify the cost, even discounted. And then there is the blades, abailability and cost. Decisions...decisions.
  14. My swiss army knife of a vehicle - a 2003 VW Jetta Wagon TDI 5spd. Upgraded injectors, injection pump, tune, and rear airbags inserted into the springs to tow my 5x10 enclosed trailer set up for my trim work business. 50mpg highway all day long 46mpg city 32mpg towing
  15. I don't use the tool brand radios as they always seem to be sub par in sound quality. I currently use a UE MegaBoom bluetooth speaker (15+ hr battery life on high volume, drop/dust/water proof, 100ft bluetooth range, usually mounted to my Joby flexable tripod). If I need to charge it I have the USB adapter for my DeWalt 20v batters which also charge my phone.
  16. Yes, I saw that Amazon deal too. Buying the 12v jigsaw and 12v led clip light = getting the 12v starter kit free. Can't go wrong with 2 new 2.0 batteries, a charger, and Lboxx 1 as a bonus!
  17. The new Bosch 12v JS120BN Jigsaw is listed on the the Bosch NA website as a new available tool. The jigsaw is listed on Amazon again, prime shipping, at the $119 price point, but says usually ships in 3-5 weeks. It must be a Mid to Late October official release date. Anyway, its good to know this will be availabe for purchase soon!
  18. I fixed my barely used 2007 full size18v 1/2" impact gun with a $7 plastic spacer part. A plastic spacer carriage housing had cracked and a piece lodged itself in the motor causing it to no run and get hot really quick. I took it apart, found the problem, ordered part, 4 days later I had it back to gether working perfectly. The new plastic spacer carriage was an updated plastic that looked much stronger than the original. Got all my parts from ereplacementparts.com Win! Win!
  19. Picked up the large 20v blower kit from Lowes for $179 - 10% discount coupon - $10 off $50 coupon. What a steal. I sold the charger for $30 as I had plenty. I love this full size blower, so convenient and great at cleaning sawdust off my tools before I pack them away.
  20. I would still love to try this new mini blower as I feel it could be very useful as well.
  21. My Lowes in Jacksonville, FL has the about 8 20v string trimmers priced at $179 and 1 blower left at the same price. I am hoping for a labor day discount coupon to drop the price more before I snag both.
