  1. went to Lowe's today, still $40 here :(

Nothing new sale-wise to report. Though I did find two carts filled with Dewalt and other Stanley/B&D brands batteries and chargers...no specific tags or reason they were there, may be an upcoming clearance. I've noticed those carts tend to find themselves next to the hidden away clearance table. There were 20v batteries but no Dewalt 20v batteries in the carts, just various post-style packs.

  2. Does anyone's else put one of those really small keychain lights on hoodie zipper pulls

haha I live in Florida, so that'd mean my flashlight would be stored away for 11 months a year.

I personally use a thin paracord, I just put my hand through it and let it dangle...when not in use and I'm not spinning it around by the lanyard on my index finger.

  3. Not sure, what happened. They were $20 last night.

They could be rolling out a sale. I've seen it hit some stores weeks ahead of others...sometimes some stores never get the sale. I'll check my store and report back Saturday before the hockey game starts :)

  4. I used the link and checked all the stores in my area and these are showing as $39.98. Are you finding the price at the store to be $20 even though the online price shows something different? I know HD doesn't necessarily show accurate in store pricing, but I wanted to make sure Lowes was the same way before making the trek out there.

Mine is showing the same online(Tampa). When I went last week, they weren't on sale. They had some other Irwin stuff on sale, like that stupid vise grips with a knife glued to the handle.

  5. this is great info! my area rarely has the deals that i have seen others posting about, but at least now i'll know what to be on the lookout for.

what is the deal with the giftcard rebate you linked to? is that good for any purchase made at HD between those dates? it's not really clear after reading the fine print on the form, and i don't see any real info about this promotion on HD website.

I believe it is good on any purchase. I honestly, don't know much more than you, all I know is that others have said it's legit and it's in-store purchases only.

  6. Here's the biggest Home Depot deal, very your milage may vary penny deals. Here's a read-up of how it works: http://www.pennypup.com/home-depot/

If you find something please share! If you find something and plan on buying a lot, do NOT buy more than 5 at a time. Buy 5, checkout then walk back into the store. Self-checkout attendant will be notified if you buy 6+ of the same item. I've never personally found a penny item so I'm not the best person to ask about it as everything I know is through research. Scan the box barcode, not the stickers!

  7. I called my local Lowes and the guy was rude and didn't seem all that interested in helping me out. He's probably telling all of his buddies to buy them out lol. No but Lowes really does have some of the worst service I have ever seen. Never around when you need someone to help you out. At this point I think they see me coming and hide. Oh well acmetools will get my local business because the service is top notch.

Lowe's has the WORST customer service of all time. I will ONLY ever buy items at Lowe's if it's on sale. If Home Depot had a greeter that punched me in the face every time I entered the store, I'd still prefer to shop at Home Depot.

BTW, I'm happy to see this thread start to gain some traction. Is there interest in permathreads for Sears, Amazon(Warehouse) and HD? I really like this community and I think deal threads are the way to help it grow and obviously help our current members. I don't mind doing some leg work and research to do my part. There are some deals that I haven't posted simply because I didn't think it was thread-worthy and don't want to be one of those guys that starts a million different threads.

  8. How much do you have to spend? Your budget will dictate what you should get. In my opinion, your most valuable investment will be your multimeter, get a Fluke...don't even consider another brand. Klein for hand tools is pretty much what you're expected to use as an electrician and it's for pretty good reason.

If you need to save a few bucks, there's nothing wrong with certain Harbor Freight items...such as your tool bag, screwdrivers, micro flush cutter. Things to avoid(again, just my opinion) wire strippers, crescent wrenches, linesman pliers, anything that cuts(other than the micro flush cutter). Pliers are hit or miss. Keep in mind that these can be temporary tools until you can reinvest, then these become backups.

  9. That's definitely another way to go. Spending 80-100 dollars on a flashlight is a lot to be sure. I have a few of those Costco lights that are in a pack of 3 for 15-18 bucks. Not bad but they all run on AAA batteries and that means they don't last long. But yeah you don't have to worry about losing or breaking them. That is a good thing.

How big is the chassis for the AAA batteries? It may be able to fit the 14500 battery.
