  1. I figured we could use a thread for Lowe's clearance items, now with these sales your milage may vary due to Lowe's pricing being a per-store system. This thread is meant for closeout items and not advertised sales(though those can also be posted but probably deserve their own tread). You can post pics that show the price and item number or you may describe the item and price. Please post your city, if not your store number(or street name) so we know where these deals are located.

All items located in Tampa, FL (Waters location):

I saw but didn't think about taking a pic of the 1/4" and 3/8" SAE and Metric 11-piece socket sets(no ratchet) for under $10

Also, $1.50-$3 individual Kobalt crowsfeet and xtreme access sockets back on sale. http://www.lowes.com/Search=kobalt+xtreme+access?storeId=10151&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&N=0&newSearch=true&Ntt=kobalt+xtreme+access#

  2. Awesome awesome Fletcher he will always remember u for that man! Make sure u rite both ur names and the date somewhere on there trust me when he or u look back on that its a special memory to remember.

That's a good idea, maybe even write a little note hidden where he might never see until he's old and grey...a "You are a good kid, keep up the hard work" kind of note may bring a man to tears. I kind of stop and get a little choked up when i find something with my Dad's handwriting on it, let alone a note.

  3. You could always grind off all the teeth and sharpen it as a flat blade. You could also grind the teeth, debur the end and probably use it as a metal pry tool if you ever have to take apart any electronics.

  4. I've just bought a Snap-On badged flashlight in Costco for £11 +Tax. For that price I don't care if its waterproof as if I drop it in the harbour I'm not going in after it.

I don't have any Snap-On licensed flashlights but I'm all for the cheaper LED flashlights from China. On Amazon you can get the 400 lumen flashlight for less than $7, they're bright as hell. They've lasted for me, I've had all three for over two years...but if it does break or I lose it, no big deal. Also these have a magnifying lense on the front, not polycarbinate. The only issue with these is the belt clip and screws that hold on the belt clip, they strip and/or back out. I dropped a little gorilla glue in the holes and screwed the screw in and the problem was solved.

I'll look for this Snap-on flashlight because one can always use a new flashlight.

  5. Hey, did you guys see, TIA finally did a flashlight video after seeing how popular flashlights were among us here lol. Its clearly using batteries larger then 18650's, I think I would rather have prefered 2 18650 battery cells for that flashlight, as it adds more charging versatility, as I could charge them via USB, or by putting the batteries themselves in a charging unit. Also, for a 70 dollar flashlight, I am dissapointed in the fact that it doesn't have a glass lens. 70 dollars isn't cheap, so the technology shouldn't be either. Other then that, it seems like a nice flashlight. But honestly with the flashlights size, you'd think it could output more then 1000 lumens, I would expect 3,000 lumens from that size. Heck, my Nitecore EC4 is small enough to fit in a pocket and it outputs 1000 lumens on the highest setting, and will do so for over an hour on 2 18650 battery cells.

I guess what I am saying is, its not a bad flashlight, but if I were looking at my EC4 for 65 dollars, and that Zero Trace for 70 dollars, weighing in the specs and all, I would easily jump to the Nitecore. And honestly, the Navy wouldn't use that size light for walking around patrolling at night, or at their post. If a light was to be that size, it be found mounted to a boat like a previous comments was saying. These days, lights don't have to be that massive to push out 1000 lumens, now 3,000 lumens, thats a different story. :)

I watched that last night. Nice idea but not something I'd buy. Also it's a 5-6 month delivery time according to Amazon. The batteries look like 2 18650s that they enclosed together, I would guess that you could probably use 2 18650s...we'd have to check the size/voltage on the battery first(obviously).

  6. That's awesome, I love those old school, family owned places. There's one here in Tampa, quite well known and delicious...was sad and a little disgusted when it got shut down for a few days because of health code violations. Won't stop me from going when I get the itch, something about their ice cream, probably the hint of bug.

As good as my place is, it looks like yours craps all over them. That looks sooo good.

  7. Use Coupon Code: "MILRECON" During Checkout, ends 10/5.

I have recieved two Milwaukee reconditioned tools from CPO and a co-worker has received a reconditioned PC drill from CPO. Not a SINGLE mark on any of them, all the paint on my Milwaukee chuck was still there(You guys should know that doesn't last long). Every tool looked brand new. The batteries were also new, you can tell on M18 batteries because the button will deform after you press it the first or second time. I can easily recommend CPO recon tools.

  8.  Thanks, Ill have to check it out, any specific model you use? or just the 1 mode?

I have three of the three mode. Basically all of the cheap LED 300-400 lumens flashlights are exactly the same, so you can just find the cheapest one. I have two of those and one Cree, the only difference is a textured versus a smooth button. I'm not sure if that's the cheapest one right now, it was just the one on my watchlist.

It's actually soo bright that I normally use it on the dimmer of the two modes(the third is strobe).

  9. I don't know why people are anti-safety, especially angle grinders or something like a chain saw. Be aware of what your doing, as a firefighter/EMT I have witnessed many stupid injuries from people not being safe.  Keep your head up out there.

There's a lot of things that I've done that aren't very safe but when messing with tools or things like your eyes are involved...just don't be dumb.

In high school my best friend's older brother was using a grinder with the guard on, with safety goggles...the kind that look like chemical goggles but have a bunch of vent holes on the side. A piece of metal still ended up in his eye. This is why you always should use a face shield with goggles, loosing your vision isn't worth it to be lazy. Luckily, he still has his vision but if he was looking just a bit to the left he would be blind in one eye.

  10. I can completely relate. Often the only thing I can remember is that I'm forgetting something important. I'll have an idea to tell a story in my head, and never fails I forget the details before it gets to my mouth as soon as I start speaking. The persons name, the road I was working on, what the part is called...sucks to feel so dumb for forgetting something you just had in your mind. I feel like if I could overcome this I'd be a genius, no lie. It sucks to be a smart guy that has so much trouble with memory.

OMG, I hate that feeling where you lose what you're trying to say. I often just say "Forget it" and get pissy for an hour or two. Also, I suck at having a mild temper. haha

  11. I carry quite  bit of tape varieties but I always find myself digging for a flashlight.  Klein makes a non-contact voltage tester with a built in flashlight, ill probably pick one up thats pretty handy to have around.

I know most guys recommend the expensive LED lights but I seriously love these little $6 lights that are bright as hell. They're also only $6 so you don't care if you lose one. If you do buy them, I recommend unscrewing the belt clip, dab some superglue in the screw holes then screw it back down. Those screws love to back out or strip, this solves both issues permanently.

  12. Never used the shockwave bits, I have some Dewalt bits with the magnetic sleeve and they are really nice, that seat well in screws and are very durable. Not sure what they call them but they have the yellow band in the bit.

I've heard really good things about those Dewalt bits. Don't even consider the Shockwave bits...those Shockwave bits are HF quality at best. It sucks that Tyler is stuck with them, at least they aren't costing him money, just his patience.

  13. Electrical tape also works well, you can even use it to cover blisters. I personally use hockey stick tape for everything, it soaks up blood really well.

I have duplicate screwdrivers, snips, multimeters, drills and phillips 3.5" #2 bits. Most of all, wire, I have at least 10,000 feet of extra wire sitting in various containers. I'll never use most of it but when I need a particular type of wire, I will have it.

  14. just let the old 18 volt system die.  no reason to keep spending money on it. lol

I think that's the point of the adapter. I believe they're still making the 18v batteries because I still see them available online. You create an adapter and that allows you to stop supporting the old tools. Then the guys with the 18V tools now have 20V batteries, so when the 18V tool finally dies guess what they're going to buy.

It a lot like what Microsoft has done with Windows 10. The end goal is to get everyone on Windows 10, what's the best way to do it? If you end support on Windows 7 or 8.1, you piss off customers. If you give them an upgrade option, they're "Supporting their customers" with a free upgrade.
