1. I used to have a similar problem with 2 brushless Bosch impact drivers I used to have and it put it down to the electronics just miss behaving every now and then , on my impacts it use to stop working when the battery got down to 2 bars and then I would swap battery and the tool would work then I could put the other one back on and it would be fine

2. I'm thinking of buying the 18v cordless mitre saw.  I tried it out when it was first released, and it was tidy, it's got good reviews, but it's been out for about 3 - 4 years know I think.  It was always confusing why dewalt released a US version which was different to the International version, but anyway.

I'm invested in the 18v platform, and already have a big 718 saw (predessor to the 780).  just nice to have something more portable and compact for the smaller tasks.

Apart from the price of dewalt tools in the UK increasing over the past 6 - 9 months, has anyone hard any buzz of whether a new version of this saw might be on the way?  Ideally a brushless one.  It's probably the only thing the old one did not have.

I have this saw and it’s great , I use mine with a flexvolt battery which gives it a little more torque but it’s great just on a normal 18v battery !
The size is perfect for everything I need to do it cuts 3x2 with ease and runs all day [emoji106]

3. Hi all, I’ve got a Bosch 36v sds compact which has been working fine until yesterday, it still works on drill setting but on hammer drill setting it has lost its power. It still looks right and makes the right noises but the power has gone. Any help would be much appreciated

I have had a few of them drills and they all do it after a few years , is it drilling but the hammer action is really weak ? If so it’s the hammer pins that have gone and I sent mine back to Bosch and it was £105 for the repair and it came back good as new ! My work mates have all got the same one and they went on there’s too it’s common after about 3 years

4. That must be the only double-ended bit that has different ends. I can't even find that one on Amaxon. Are there any other bits like this one?

Which ones are you after meaning what bit do you want at each end ? There’s plenty in the uk on eBay that Bosch do that have different ends 61fcf5835ca36956fa57d3c4b2415db2.jpg50b33061ef66fd30062d71b10a730e9f.jpg84aed253ee5416b116c5c4dc98b522e3.jpg

5. Is there any advantage using BOSCH Double-ended screwdriver bits?

I use the double ended impact control bits and yes the advantage with them is you can have different ends on them so for example I use the ones that have a pz2 at one end and ph2 at the other so I just rotate the bit between screws as I use them types of screws daily. I wish the makitagold double ended bits were different at each end as I don’t see the point in it being the same each end apart from when one end breaks or wears out.

6. If I buy a cordless kit in the US to bring back home can I just buy a UK battery charger and recharge the US butteries that way?

I currently live in the US and the kits here are super cheap compared to UK so I want to grab one before I leave.

Any help appreciated.

Yes that’s exactly what you can do it’s all the same just need a uk charger

Without starting a crap throwing contest here, I STRONGLY disagree with this statement. I've been a contractor for over 20 years. Owned/used every brand out there. Originally switched to Ridgid because it was the new kid on the block and I really wanted to more easily find my tools on a jobsite among the sea of yellow and red, but once I started using them I never had a reason to go back. I see comments like your's all the time on forums and usually it's an opinion based statement, unless you can provide statements from Ridgid themselves stating that their tools are geared towards/marketed for "consumer grade" users. Then I would happily tuck my tail between my legs and submit. Unfortunately, most tradesmen were brought up believing if a tool isn't yellow, red, or blue that it's inferior. Kinda like convincing a diehard Harley rider that Japanese bikes have a right to be on the road too. Now believe me, I own very few Ridgid tools outside of their cordless line, unlike a typical Dewalt fanboy who will not buy any tool, corded or cordless, drill bits, driver bits, underwear, etc unless it's Dewalt brand. Opinions are just that, opinions. My opinion is that Dewalt cordless is crap. But again that's my opinion, however I do own many Dewalt corded tools. So for sake of conversation, most Dewalt/Milwaukee/Makita fanboys will always view Ridgid as some red headed stepchild. Nonetheless, I respect all brands and will not shoot anyone down for using what they prefer. Tool on fellas!

Well sounds like we have a Ridgid fanboy here [emoji23]

8. Thank you for your reply! I'm going to give it a try. I'll let you know what happens.

I have that strummer in your last photo do you see the notch in the guard you put a screwdriver in that and slide it in to a hole you line up to lock the head then you undo the head by hand it might be left hand thread like a Moyer saw blade I think but it’s easy to do

9. at least they brought back the triple led on the impact

Did the triple leds leave any of the dewalt impacts then as all the ones I’ve used or had have them ?

10. Small molding that flexes as you cut it and the blind apprentice that just needs to make one cut will change your mind about hook angle fast.  Being arrogant will also get you in trouble no matter what you do.

Back on subject Craigh9916 what is the part number for the Freud blade your interested in?  I wouldn't mind trying something different.

Lp40m012 it’s the 40 tooth blade

11. You would have to find one made for a miter saw.  Every 7 1/4 blade that I tried was too thin and had too agressive hook angles.

I use a Makita 40t 7 1/2" blade.  It is thicker and made for miter saws.  You do have to clearance the guard slightly for it.

Yes I’ve found a Freud blade the right size that is for a mitre saw just wondered if anyone is using one and if they think they are getting better results with it

12. Hi I have the uk 18v dewalt mitre with the standard 40t blade it came with and wondered if any of you lot have ever replaced it with a Freud blade and what was the outcome ? I have a corded saw the I have a few Freud blades for and they made a big difference but wondered what it was like in the cordless saw with them being thicker blades , I was going to buy the 24t Freud as I’m sure it will still give fairly clean results but thought I would ask.

13. My bad, why use a flex battery on a20v mitre? It won't help much but more runtime...plus I have that and it is not very good compared to the Ridgid or Milwaukee....a 5ah is all you need for it

Because a few people on here have said the flexvolt makes a big difference in performance on the 20v mitre

14. I'm glad they are expanding the 20v line...ya Craigh9916 it's not a finesse tool...Bosch makes a good jig, Festool is better, and Mafell is best......but this is the Dewalt forum....so for a decent jig I'm sure it'll be ok...

No but the brushes model is a bit of a concrete block compared to others that’s all I’m saying , the new one looks like they have addressed this issue

15. I have 4 of the 12ah..it makes a big difference on all the 60v tools.....but 9ah is plenty for the mitre saw...I wouldn't go lower then 9ah /3ah on any 60v tool, .,it absolutely makes a difference in performance and runtime

Bare in mind the title says on a 20v tool I’m not using them on a 60v I just want to know the difference between the two in power on a 20v mitre

16. Not that I am in the market for a jigsaw, but some of the folks commenting on Toolguyd say it doesn't have a blower lever / switch, but that it does in fact have a blower.  Has anyone here heard definitively one way or the other?

Maybe it’s built in as my bosch doesn’t have a blower switch but does blow the saw dust away

17. ah ratings only add negligible amounts of “power.” The key factor is runtime. 6 vs 9, you should see roughly a 50% linger runtime.

With the larger cells of the 9 Ah I was thinking better performance as my bosch 6.3 Ah I’m my circular saw is far better then the 5 Ah performance wise

18. Hi can anyone tell me if there is much difference in power between the 6ah flexvolt battery and the 9 Ah when used on the 20v mitre saw ? The reason I ask is I’m going to buy one mainly for my miter saw but if there isn’t a lot in the performance I will get the 6 Ah as at least it will get used on a few other tools as it’s not as big but if the 9 Ah makes the saw a lot more powerful then I will buy that and leave it on the saw ?

19. Sometimes the blower switch gets bumped off on mine and I hate it.  If this doesn't have the blower I'll pass for sure.  I really don't see anything wrong with the old brushed jigsaw.

Apart from the fact it can be used as an anchor on a cruise ship ! It doesn’t have any finesse about it at all compared to the bosch which just feels right in your hand compared.

20. Im actually looking forward to seen what Bosch has done to this tool, IM coming close to buying a new impact driver and I do like the option of the impact wrench as well.

I had the GDX with that 1/2 inch socket and 1/4 hex chuck and got rid of it as I was fed up with certain bits not fitting as the shank has to go deeper then normal before it clicks into place so certain bit holders and hex drill bits wouldn’t work as the body of them hit the tool before clicking into place!
