Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't added to this in quite a while. Summer got super busy and the garage is about half finished. I have an 8 foot table that I've started and need to finish in the next couple weeks. After that, I'm all in on the garage project. One update I will share though. The 8-foot by 8-foot storage cabinet had to be cut down to a smaller width. I forgot to look up when I was making them. I have an attic access ladder that when dropped down into place landed right in the cabinet. Needless to say, there was quite a bit of swearing that day. It's all good now.

The house was built in 1960, so I am sure there is a good chance it had asbestos. I'm trying to take extra care in this garage facelift. I want to do it right the first time and not have to redo it for many years.

Wow! I never thought to check. I would get it checked, but i never thought about it and the painting portion is done. I will try to get progress pictures up here in the next couple days.

Hey guys, I just started a garage makeover project. We've lived in this house for the last 11 years, and I never properly set up the garage. It was fist a dumping ground of stuff until we got moved in. After that, I just tried to put things in there to fit instead of thinking functional. Ever since then, I've been coming up with ideas to increase storage, but never made it functional (adding workbenches and storage cabinets. I've finally had enough of that. Yesterday, I started taking everything out of the garage. I'm going to start over from scratch. Here is my idea. remove everything including all benches and cabinets patch all of the holes and damaged plaster. paint entire garage install a new flooring. build new workbenches build new upper cabinets build an 8" by 8" storage closet install new lights I'll share some pictures when I get them.

I've made quite a few x-carve projects over the last 3 years and about a year ago, I started adding colored epoxy to my projects. I've really liked the results. Eric is a huge Cubs fan, so I went ahead and made him a custom Chicago Cubs X-carve project. He just received it yesterday and seems to be pretty stoked. Since Epoxy can be a bit intimidating if you've never used it before, I went ahead and made a "How To" video to show how to use the x-carve and how to work with Epoxy.

Hey guys. Sorry I've been away for so long. No good excuses, just got away from me. As many of you know, I'm now writing and creating videos for TIA. Sarah Listi (new writer) came up with an idea a little while back where between her and I, we are creating 5 simple projects for Mother's day. It is a bit pricey. I bought my Rockler unit for about $800, but I didn't some of the features the jet has. I'm not sure of the price shown is for all of the options or just for the basic setup. I am assuming its for everything.

I've had the same issues with the besseys. I think it has a lot to do with the grooves they cut in the bar to help the jaws bite in. I bought a couple Jorgensens right before they went out of business and I really like them. I haven't tried the Jet clamps yet.

Oh man, I just thought of another thing. Parallel Clamps. I use them all of the time. I've got Bessey Revo clamps and some Jorgensens. Unfortunately, Jorgensen went out of business recently. As a matter of fact, I just noticed today that Bessey has come out with a new set of parallel clamps. They improved on their K Body Revo clamps and they are calling them the K Body REVOlution. OOH, I have another item to add. I love the Magswitch magnetic featherboard. I use it all of the time because it is easy to use and very quick to adjust.

This is an awesome topic. I'm sure I am going to add to this one more than once, but right off of the top of my head, I want to add the Rockler Corner Clamp jig. It has made making box type units super easy.

I saw those seats on either facebook or instagram a little while back. I think they look great and I am surprised at how much I really want to have them. The industrial storage racks are nothing new and look to be a rebranded item with DeWalt's colors.

I do have four of the corner clamps. It allows me to keep all four corners aligned and if something is a little off in the middle, I either use a clamp or push it in by hand to line it up. They seem to hold very well on the plywood I've been using.

I'm going to be creating a video on some tricks for getting good pocket hole joints shortly. I haven't used the Kreg corner jig shown above, but it looks like it has potential.

I didn't buy this today, but I bought it very recently. The Rockler Clamp it Corner Clamping jig. I have to say I love these clamps. I'm getting much better results when building things out of pocket holes than I did in the past. These aren't my photos just so you know.

I've been really busy and haven't spent much time here in the last 6 months, but that is going to change. On top of reviews, I plan on doing some build projects. I spent two weeks during X-mas to build my wife a barn door storage unit for my wife. I took a lot of video footage and plan on putting that together soon. Hopefully it comes out okay. I learned a lot from doing it and made a few mistakes along the way. They weren't catastrophic, but something to think about if you try it yourself. Thanks again for the warm welcome. Hey everyone, Sorry I've been away so long. Summer time I am up to my eyeballs in Girls Fastpitch softball. My daughter plays on a travel team (Michigan Bolts) along with Little League. Just last week, our little league softball girls team won the Michigan State Majors (12U) championship pretty convincingly. We outscored our opponents 73 to 13 over the week and were only behind for one inning (1 to 0) the entire tourney. http://www.mlive.com/sports/bay-city/index.ssf/2017/07/raise_the_banner_bay_county_li.html The girls now get to play in Indianapolis IN. for the Central Region Championship along with 8 other state champs. We will play Missouri on Monday and Iowa on Tuesday. After that, we will go into bracket play to decide the champs on Friday. I think we have a real good shot at winning this tournament. If the girls do win, we will be off to Oregon for the World Championships. For the past 18 years, I've been a Lab Technician in a power plant. I am responsible for making sure all of the water in the plant is in spec, handle waste, test fuels, perform environmental rounds, and just about anything else the company can pile on. Prior to that, I was a lab tech at a waste water treatment plant, a lab tech in an environmental lab and a geoprobe operator/field tech that collected enviromental soil and water samples.
