  1. I do like SOG as well, JMG. The big seller on this S&W is the glass break it has built in.......and I own a few of their small cals.
  2. I have given Kershaw two chances and yet again, the thumb assist on the Brawler has failed. The blade itself, the durability of the case, and it's size where all huge pros. However, being less than a year old and failing to this extent has left me searching for a new blade. I looked into the Smith & Wesson tactical tanto lines and they look pretty impressive. Here is what I am about to pull the trigger on: https://www.knife-depot.com/knife-184166.html Anyone else have any other suggestions? I really don't want to shell out more than $50 and it has to have a good thumb assist. And tanto......MUST BE TANTO! 3...2...1...go!
  3. Gloves are one thing.......but work boots and shoe shopping for me is a battle every time. I am on the other end of this where I need a Size 7 wide. Anymore I just go online and am usually pretty lucky at what I can find for quality, style, and functionality. I used to have really good luck with Redwing Boots, but several years ago they shipped manufacturing overseas and now their styles and quality blows. I just got my first pair of Wolverines to try as a replacement not to long ago and gotta say I am very impressed.
  4. Hey fellas, thanks for the props and the shout outs. To answer some of the general questions: 1. My fault for the accident so I am no longer with the company. 2. Doing much better in regards to both healing and pain. 3. Am still moving forward with plans to have a business of my own running within the next several years, however in the meantime I have my cable lineman experience to fallback on so it looks like I will be back to spiking poles. 4. My viewpoint on a lot has changed, I am just glad I can still be up moving around and trying to keep up with my kids. Have a kick ass St Pattys Day people!
  5. I am right with you on this, Stercorarius, as gloves get in the way with a lot of the stuff I have to do. It is impossible to cut fittings, prep line, and as you mentioned most importantly, get an accurate grip on the tools and materials you are working with. I just want a decent pair of gloves to get through my standard day to day stuff.
  6. Calling into the DP show, most seasoned listeners know to give their rundown. Me? 4'6" , 155 lbs. Those numbers make a lot of people really confused but when they discover I am a little dude power lifter....then things click. Still however, this does not help me at stores, online, or even in vendor contests. No one....and I mean NO ONE stocks or sells decent Size S technical or work gloves. I have to either make do with loose Size M, or step down to some shitty Harbor Freight Size S knit gloves. Anyone have any leads or know of anything I am missing.
  7. Hey fellas. Hope the last few weeks have been eventful. I am just jumping back on quick to keep everyone updated. Last week, I was 3 hours from home on my way back from the job site. I wasn't familiar with the area (or roads), and the weather wasn't the greatest that night either. Long story short, my dumbass was going to fast for conditions and wrecked the work van bad...totaled. I myself suffered a fractured L1 vertebrae and was taken to the University Hospital for further tests. Long story short, I had a fusion procedure done with some pins and screws to correct my vertebrae. Recovery time on this is going to vary from 8 - 12 weeks. The other downside is that I am no longer with the AV company I was working for, however on the flipside this pushes me towards my own company just a little sooner than expected. So the plan of action has not changed.....in the past few days my mobility is a lot better and I imagine by next week I may be able to start messing with scrap pieces in my jump into custom cabinetry and AV furniture. Now all I need to do is go over all of my tools with a fine tooth comb and made sure they came out the of accident unscathed. PS: I have a gnarly 6" - 7" incision and scar that somehow fit in the only bare spot on my back and left my back piece tattoo untouched.
  8. This is my first step towards some decent woodworking gear for my shop/garage. I have my mind pretty well set on a planer and table saw from DeWalt, I am just debating on the miter. It seems this has all the specs I am looking for: dual bevel, sliding, and a 12" blade.....anyone used this one yet? My plans are some trim work, crown molding, and cabinetry builds.
  9. Have met a few of those guys in my time working for Vinnie....very cool guys....and excellent show
  10. Hey wrench-heads! Dude, as soon as I caught TIA on YouTube I knew these guys were like-minded and rocked. My name is Jared. I am 35 yrs old and was born with a Nintendo controller in one hand and a GameBoy in the other. I have been a tech-head and a farm boy from Day 1. In the last 20 years I have been a cable lineman, Geek Squad Home Theater installer and ISF certified calibrator, PC network agent, and custom tattoo shop manager. In between all that I have also fronted metal bands and done stand up comedy for Big Vin Records (Vinnie Paul of Pantera) in Las Vegas up until 2010. Since then, I have focused on the AV, Networking, and Security industry as a custom, high-end installer. I love the clients I work for and the gear that I get to play with every day. The tools I use are the icing on the cake. What brought me to TIA is the fact that these guys are like-minded. I would like to take my skills now and move into the woodworking and cabinetry aspect now....so here I am. On top of that, my fiancé and I bought a house a year ago and there is a lot of stuff I would love to do....but need the guidance. Aside from Daddy-duties to 4 yr old and 5 yr old daughters that consist of make-up tutorials and Disney, I love my career and my passions: family, music, work, and politics. I support: Vanessa, Phoenix, Hayden, & Harper,, bands Shadows Fall, Anthrax, Mastodon, Five Finger Death Punch, Mudvayne, HellYeah, In Flames, Soilwork, Ghost BC, Guns 'n Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Trivium, Speedfinger. And my tools: DeWalt, Kobalt, Bosch, Husky, Ridgid, Milwaukee, Rockwell, Element, Platinum Tools, Skyline Cable, Skywalker AV, Lowes, Home Depot. Keep it up fellas!
