They had a 36v mower but I am not sure about its model. I skipped the Gardening & Outdoor section. They had few smaller circular saws, all with vac attached. However, I think they were all prexisting saws like DHS680 & DHS710.

Collated screwgun was avaliable and very popular among tradies so I only observed from distance. The collated head was mainly plastic and it worked with a soft start. So it was most likely an attachment and not a built-in collated head like other Makita screwguns.

The new collated head is an attachment. You should of looked at the circ saw closer, I don’t think it was a dhs710. I’ll just say it’s an update of the 710. I can’t say 100% for sure because I wasn’t at the show I live in Australia but I heard a few weeks ago what they would be show casing

I went to New Zealand's Makita Roadshow yesterday and the reps said 36v Rear Handle Saw and DTD171 will release at the end of 2018.

The saw will have a dust port option, which can be useful but I would rather welcome a LED illuminaton for an extra cost.

At the drill station, DTD171 was driving 50-60mm Tek screws. The unit was overheating only an hour into hands-on-demonstration. WTF? It was not like tradies were lining up to test it.

From my peronsonal experience, I can drive hundreds of Tek screws for Joist Hangers and GIB Brackets without my old Makita impact drill gun overheating. I don't think the two LEDs on the body contribute to heating. Other factors involved? Who knows...

The rear handle with added dust port is for worldwide release. It will replace the current rear handle in North America

It’s been mentioned here and there on the internet for weeks if not months by people who are well connected that a cordless router is coming. That’s been in many responses to complaints of a nice teal router with no yellow alternative.

It’s not far away my Dewalt rep told me,

Life sucks for Australian tool fans. It’s a $64 CAD premium for Australia and our dollars are pretty much even.

I don’t think. The reason that tool cost more in Australia is the import tax is higher than Canada. But I think you find property tax is far higher in Canada than Australia. Works out in the end, government needs to make the money up somewhere right.

It sucks the prices are so much higher over there.  I'm in the middle of a roadtrip and found one on clearance for $261, causing me to immediately plot on ways to buy it and return the kit I bought for $349 last month.  Pulling it down, I saw it was saw only, meaning it was either a display, someone stole the battery and charger, or somebody bought it and returned it without the battery and charger (same difference).

    It's a great saw, though.

Don’t see how it’s sucks ? Just how the economy works

Pretty great looking idea. I wonder how well their electronic clutch works. Milwaukee’s m12 drill with electronic clutch can allow over torque at high rpm. Bosch’s dds183 and HDS183 use a combination of mechanical and electronic clutch which is very consistent regardless of rpm. This makita in the video seems to drill really fast in masonry for a hammer drill. I like the really high rpm it offers in drilling modes.

The electronic clutch is far better. I have this bl Makita drill. It’s a very nice unit

Really? Still that far away? I went to a Makita expo in June last year and they said they were hoping to have it at the expo but should be out before xmas, now possibly next year? Come on Makita, if you are too late with this one the other tool companies will eat you up. That said, I don't want them to rush it and stuff it up.

Yes next year it’s still in development. A new finish nailer is coming out towards the end of the end

Any update on a brushless multi tool?

Any sign of an 18v x2 table saw to rival hitachi’s new multi volt table saw?

Will makita be releasing a battery only framing nailer?

Any news on high demand batteries to rival every other tool companies high demand batteries?

Framer is still getting worked on. Next year apparently

Ok, so I'm in the market for a rotary hammer.  Looking at the 273 and the 293.  This will be an occasional use tool for me, as I do not do much drilling in concrete as a general rule.    I will mostly be using it on bits 1/2" or less, with some occasional larger holes and some light concrete shipping for any repair jobs that come up.  Things that today I just do by hand.  It will be replacing a Ridgid corded normal chucked hammer drill, so I would think either will be a step way up.  I have 7 flexvolt batteries, and numbers 20V batteries, so run time wont be a huge issue for me.  Just curious if there is any real reason to spend the extra money on the 293, or if the 273 should pretty much do everything I'm gonna ask it to do

    thanks for any input

The 283 is replacing the 273. The 283 is out in Australia. Also a universal extractor is available that fits on the 283,284,293 and 333. It’s driven mechanically by a drive pin. It’s comes with an adaptor to fit the 283

Thé 11 Joules spec doesn't, in any way, compare to the joules specced of other Makita ( or any other Bosch DeWalt metabo, etc.... Rotary of around 7 kg weight ).

It’s rated at 11.4 joules believe me. That’s the top serect Japanese spec. At woc the Makita killed the the Dewalt 40mm rotary when we ran them side by side. If it was only 8 joules i wouldn’t of expected it to beat the dewalt by nearly a whole hole. The corded Makita is rated at 11.4 joules in Australia. Just wait till the new Dewalt dch733 comes out in June-August it will blow them all away

It's too bad you live in New Zealand. Here in America, Home Depot is selling the 2 battery rear handle (similar in appearance to a worm drive) Makita circular saw with a 2 battery charger and 4 5ah batteries for about $350 (about 480 NZD). That circular saw is among the best if not the best cordless circular saw on the market today and I am planning to get one today.

I saw that in Home Depot when I was in the states. You forgot to mention 350 usd plus tax. It’s works out more like $500 Australian dollars. I bought the rear handle bare. Wasn’t worth buying the kit and plus the charger is 110v
