  1. BL4050F? Wow! Could that F be for Fluoride? That would explain this whole XGT-thing. Next generation battery technology. Search for Fluoride-Ion Battery, Kyoto University.
  2. 😲To Ma Poser Quasare! Good Find!
  3. 9 Ah that's either 3-row pack of the same cells that make 2-row 6Ah or finally some new breakthrough chemistry. Or a hoax.
  4. I am all for X3 / X4 formula, if it is restricted to stationary / wheeled / backpack type of tools. Very welcomed idea actually. Btw has anyone noticed the rough surface finish of the saw on the video? Must be a 3D-printed prototype.😯
  5. Looks like a regular sheet sander doesn't it. This "Patentspeak" is all Greek to me.
  6. I did some patent search today and came across this "Portable Polishing Machine".
  7. Nice demonstration it gives me hope. 👍
  8. Evolution of "The Gap" seems to support this theory. I would love myself some HD batteries, but not in Flexvolt form factor. Not at that price. I'd rather wait 2 more years for more compact ones, if that's what's needed. I'm completely with SchenzenSpecial on this, "keep it compact" is my top priority. However, I 'm not a pro and I' m not a salesman either.
  9. Interesting input to the topic has Toolpig on Instagram.
  10. That's what I feared. I knew I needed both! 😆 Thank you, I think I get a trimming saw and stick with my old Stihl for bigger jobs.
  11. Thanks for measuring! Then it's either very compact 21700 packs, or they really have something revolutionary up their sleeve. Eiter way I'm a happy camper 😛. Btw Dominic, do you have clear favorite between X2 and single battery brushless chainsaws? I can't make up my mind which to get.
  12. Maybe they really managed to cramp 21700 cells into a pack that is only 5 mm wider? For me as a Makita user that would be a dream come true. With other brands, hi-drain packs tend to be hideously big, more than shere difference in cell dimensions would imply. Except for perhaps Bosch Core, which is pretty compact. If that is the case, it would explain why the latest circ saw has narrower gap. 5 - 6 mm would do.
  13. Like what, 2 mm wider? Why do all the newer X2 tools have like 2 cm gap between the packs then? Except the latest circular saw, where the spacing between the packs seem to be back to a couple of milimeters. I'm just intrigued what this inconsistency could possibly mean.🤔
  14. Latest single battery chain saw doesn't seem to have enough space for a bigger battery pack. Also the not yet released X2 circ saw is back to "regular" spacing between the packs. (I checked all vids and pics available and I swear there is no gap). Could this mean Makita will stick with its regular sized packs in the future and avoid this "the bigger the better" nonsense? Just a speculation, but could this mean Makita will skip 20700/21700 cells altogether and come up with something even better? Something that will keep up with performance, but won't grow in size. Time for Solid state batteries?
  15. For compatibility sake, I'd like to see a backpack holder for say 8 pieces of existing 18V Makita packs with built-in slow charger for overnight charging and the necessary electronics making it ready for powering Makita tools of any given voltage. Would something like that be doable?
  16. Are you familiar with Pellenc brand? It is worth checking out if you are not. I believe they were well ahead of Husqvarna, Stihl & co with their backpack line. They also have some unique tools I wish Makita would adopt for their future OPE line.
  17. I am intrigued as well. Like one big pack that would engage in both slots of X2 tools? But I wonder why 58V in the first place? 3x18V would be 54V. Kornomaniac its been over a year you first reported about 58V do you have any update?
  18. Anyhow, exciting times for us Makita - guys!
  19. How can you tell from this pic alone? I think the handle is extra slim. Or are there more pics available?
  20. Keep posting more good news! Will the cordless trim router make it to EU this year?
  21. Thats what I feared. Compact packs aren't meant to be used in X2 tools but still.. :-(
  22. Thanks Makita_2233 for great info! Hopefully these new battery packs will be compatible with recent line of X2 tools which were not designed to accept wider than existing packs. Vertically oriented cells sound like a clever way to get around this problem!
  23. Wow thats a lot of tempting new tools! Makita strikes back! :-) Ive been wondering if Makita is going to introduce new high-draw cells for their packs just like Metabo did with their LiHDs or Bosch with Eneracer. Kornomaniac, you must be the only person who can cast some light on this do you have any clue?
