  1. Trigger is definitely not variable, just an on-off. Bits clunk home with a very satisfying feel. Too late to try it out, but will do as soon as I get the opportunity. I've purchased an sds max to sds plus adaptor, should save me buying a load of bits for it. Whoever packed it was definitely a smoker! The case stinks of ciggies!
  2. Short chucks annoy me, can't get your whole hand around them.
  3. I get that, but only on my Milwaukee M28 combi, the brakes are too violent.
  4. Takes a firm shove to get em in the charger too! Still love mi red kit though.
  5. I'm glad they're secure, but they could do with being tweaked by a micron so that they're easier to release.
  6. My Dewalt 323 flexvolt sds; this has a soft-start that you can't switch off. On the Bosch 36 Volt sds you have two settings, one for full power, the other for 70% with a slow ramp-up. The DeWalt always starts slowly which is annoying.
  7. I don't like large triggers, there's no need for them. A small trigger leaves more of your hand free to control the tool, but a large trigger means you've only got your two smallest fingers plus your thumb to move the drill around. Small trigger with a nicely weighted action is far superior. Ryobi battery release buttons; they protrude just a tad too much, this means that any pressure on the side of the battery will unclip that side of the pack. Not had one fall out yet, but they need to raise the button surrounds by 1 or 2mm to cure that minor flaw.

    Flexvolt problem

They really do use the same cells, check out some of AvE's vids, he breaks em open and shows the truth. Milwaukee and their "Red Lithium", all pap, they're just standard 18650 cells from the likes of Samsung or LG or whoever. For what it's worth, all my tools come in the house every single night, I'm not risking another theft. So mine are always kept at decent temps, they're a big investment and worth looking after.
  9. In theory, but it would be interesting to see a side by side, head to head drill-off. I'd like to know the actual ratings of the motors, if the flexvolt really is 1050 Watts, then that's only pulling 20 Amps at 54 Volts.
  10. Just finished watching a review by "Tool Craze" on the M18 sds max, it managed 42.5 holes, 3.5 inches deep in concrete on one 9.0 Amp 18 Volt battery. Now, it'd be interesting to see how many holes the flexvolt can do on its 3.0 battery! Hint hint! Still going Yellow on this purchase because it has "rotary only", Red doesn't. Three modes over two.

    Flexvolt problem

The flexvolt lights do stay on, then go out one at a time which is a nice touch. Four or five lights is far better. Four green and one red for empty would be ideal.
  12. Ah, now the fog lifts! I was wondering how a 5 volt USB at 2 Amps could provide any heat? That's like 10 Watts! Cheers all!
  13. Yeah, I get where you're coming from. I have 12 and 28 Volt Milwaukee, but no 18 Volt. Might as well go Yellow for this one. If Milwaukee made an M28 sds max, I'd be all over it!
  14. Ah, but there's the rub! I have flexvolt, but no M18. So if I buy the Milwaukee it'll sit idle for too long which the cells won't like. I have Dewalt, so might aswell buy the bare tool and use it when it's needed. It'll kick ass in hammer mode, but still provide non-hammer for diamond drilling. The Red offering is far cheaper, but no non-hammer and no M18 to make use of the other kit. It'll be Yellow for this purchase, all the boxes are ticked bar the price, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. Cheers for the reply.
  15. Are you talking about the 12v cigarette socket?
  16. Also, the Milwaukee M18 version doesn't do rotary only, this is a big fail as you can't use it for diamond core cutters, unless I'm missing something? Shame as the Milwaukee is far cheaper.
  17. I've heard of motor failures in these with little warranty being offered, still want one though.
  18. Definitely want variable for certain tasks, I'm finally being swayed. I reckon a bare unit will suffice, it'll be one of those machines that saves the day when sds plus just ain't enough. I've watched the vid several times now and it seems to just eat those sleepers!
  19. Does this have a variable speed trigger or just on-off?
  20. Putting a tripod light on?
