They consider music played on a jobsite a licensable performance??? Even if it is only over the air broadcasts???

Northfield Foundry & Machine Co. Makes some really awesome woodworking equipment. I have had the pleasure of working with one of their tablesaws and I can attest to it being one fine machine. I'm really surprised I don't hear about this company more often. These fine machines are made right here in Northfield, Minnesota. While this company is not on the cutting edge, they are the type of tools that will stand up to a production environment for a lifetime and then some. The Original Saw Company This tool company arose through the mergers and acquisitions of Dewalt. Dewalt the original manufacturer the radial arm saw, was purchased by AMF then Black & Decker, which sold out the rights to their radial arm saws to a pair of former execs. who then proceeded to go bankrupt, out of this arose the Original Saw Company. They continue to make one of the few radial arm saws worth buying today. Just about every Home Depot I've been to has had one of their saws sitting in the back of the lumber department should you wish to see on of these fine saws. There was a patent lawsuit brought against Home Depot over a hand guard they use in their stores brought about by them trying to undercut the inventor/contractor over the cost of the guard.

My guess is that it is a safety issue, Can't hear that "LOOK OUT" warning over all the noise of radios playing, and I can just hear the management saying your here to do a job, not be entertained. I've been on some jobsites where the radio wars, you know those contests where everyone keeps turning up their radios so they don't have to listen to the other guys annoying music, have prompted the management to ban radios. Seems there are always a few willing to ruin it for everyone.

While I do have my "beat-on" screwdriver, I find that I use my painters 6 in 1 for most of my can't be bothered to go fetch the right tool jobs. I use it as a scraper, a pry bar, a hammer, a screwdriver (the pointed end even works to drive phillips)a putty knife, and it works great at jimmying doors and windows open too. I don't understand why this tool doesn't get more love, and why people look at me funny for carrying it

I can relate, I had a car (parked) almost totaled in a parking lot by someone talking on a cell phone. I can see why some states have banned cell phones when driving and wish my state was one of them. Bad enough that half the people choose to drive pickups and SUVs, but it seems that they are also the ones who drive the worst.

I have three tools that I use "more" than I should. Circular saw. I really hate having to drag out a table saw or miter saw for just a cut or two. If you can't build it with a circular saw , it probably can't be built. Klein 11 in 1 screwdriver, yes a regular screwdriver is a lot more sturdy, but the convenience of of having most common bits available in a small package that is easy to carry around make this just good enough tool, a daily use one. Vice grips, who needs a set of wrenches or clamps when you have vice grips?

Proto is a subsidiary of that mega corporation that is Stanley Black & Decker, there main business, it would seem, is corporate contracts, I would believe that most of there advertisements are aimed towards that end. They won some awards with their advertisements last year, for their “Serious Work: Rookie” advertisements. They, like other companies of their ilk, rely on their reputation for their business. IMHO they are not that interesting a company, their last major innovation was the combination wrench sometime in the 30s. While they do make quality tools, I believe they are a step down in quality from Snap-on as I don't think they put as much effort into their tools fit and finish as does Snap-on and they don't offer anywhere near the same customer support to us lowly non corporate tool buyers.

Well since were posting friends and family, I wish I was more talented, the only thing I can play is the radio, and I get a lot of complaints that I can't even play that right.

You all ought to try some decent ones, the Spencos I posted earlier last ages, I might only go through 2 for the life of a boot if that many. They last as long as my shorter lived boots. Even the stock ones that come in boots tend not to last as long.
