    so jronman, are you saying that your 6 inch rotary sander does make a grumbling sound when you use it in the rotary mode ?

    just bought a 5 inch fesstool rotex sander. i'm wondering if anyone on this forum uses this sander and can tell me about it. i've only tried it a few times so far. when using it in the rotary mode, it can make a grumbling, almost rattling sound that comes and goes as you put pressure on it and then let up.
