  1. Hand tools are hit & miss. Last week, I took back a plunge router because it's guides were so sloppily designed, I could tell that it would never give me a precision cut when the blade tip can move/wobble sideways as much as an 1/8 inch from center. I have a few corded drills from them but I don't use them to often. I use my Black & Decker cordless drill motors mostly. They were cheep and they are cheep but they fill my needs. I would never buy any cordless hand tools from them because Chinese batteries made for the cheapest price don't have a lot of power and you will be replacing then more often than you should. If you ever bought any batteries off of Amazon, you know what I'm talking about. I have a few air nailers. I have their cheep pneumatic staple nailer with 2-1/2" staples. This has been working pretty good but I haven't used the 23 gauge brad nailer yet. I expect the same performance from it. I have a few bench top tools also. Their small band saw, drill press, and their small metal lathe. The metal lathe could be and would have been a great addition to the workshop in spite of the cheep plastic gearing they use except for the fact that mine has a bad motor that overloads thermally and shuts down with any minimal load applied to it. one of these days if Harbor Freight Corporate quits hiding from their public and starts answering their phones again. All their published phone numbers are answered by an auto attendant with the voice menu of each of the departments. When you select the extension you want you get a recording that there is no one available to take your call and points you to their web site to complete your business. You go back to the web site and look for product support it gives you their primary phone number to call which won't be answered. Another problem with Harbor Freight is the way that the play with prices to get you into the store. I have wanted to buy their 93" band saw but not at it's regular rice. It's not worth that much (way over priced). In July, the regular price was $369.95. Last month, August, it was $384.95, a price hike of $15.00. This month, they raised it again another $15.00 to $399.95. But, this Labor Day weekend, they are running a 25% off for Inside Track Club members. You know how they like to put a list of exclusions in real fine print across the bottom that nobody can read? Well the Labor Day discount did not apply to this band saw, In fact, they have excluded every piece of equipment by brand name and not by item that they sell so the only thing left to apply this 25% off to is just one of the miscellaneous junk items and yes, this fantastic deal in bold big letters that takes a 5th of a page, in the fine print says that it can only be applied to one of the items that you are buying. That makes this deal not so much of a deal. 25% off of nothing is nothing, but it costs you time an gas to drive into town for this great event. So much for Harbor Freight. I let my guard down and they got me again.
