Just an update in case anyone else has the same problem- After phoning every day for a week, sending several emails and even tweeting out of desperation, I finally got through to someone at Dewalt customer services who conceded after seeing photos of my DCS365 with this fault that it is not supposed to be like this, the shadow is only supposed to be the width of the blade. I’ve got an email from them saying that they’ll send a new replacement as soon as they’re back in stock. Fingers crossed.

Did you ever get to the bottom of the issue OP? I’ve just got a new Dewalt mitre and have the same issue, light slightly offset to the right so I only get a shadow on one side of the blade. Debating whether to send it back which is hassle or try to adjust it myself somehow?
