Hi, I have a Sealey SDM-30 https://www.sealey.co.uk/product/5637198366/5-speed-hobby-pillar-drill-580mm-ht-350w drill and I need to remove the chuck. The instructions suggests it has an MT2 taper sleeve see here https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1850477/Sealey-Sdm30-V2.html?page=2#manual
I have tried various ways to remove as suggested from some g-searches, including:
inserting a bolt through the bench fixing in the cluck and raising the bed to pull out the cluck - the bolt just slips out of the chuck
Placing a hex key in cluck and hit it with a hammer. - as above key just slips out
place piece of wood above the chuck and hit with hammer - nothing moves
Spray with WD40
Heat up and try above (but only have electric heat gun)
I eventually spoke to Sealey tech support who said I will need to remove the whole shaft from the drill and get it in a vice, but when I looked at an explode drawing it looks complex with at least 3 bearings and not that confident!
So I wanted to reach out to the forums to see if anyone has had similar issues and do they have any suggestions on how to remove without dismantling the drill?
The drill looks very similar to Clarke SPD5, SIP01700, Energer ENB67, Titan TTB54, Draper 350w etc possibly the same chuck fitting.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Martin
