  1. Ive found with my makita impact driver and my milwaukee impact driver that finding certain trigger finger postions will give me about 5 consistant speeds. knowing this personally i feel that variable speed is more of a diy or construction paced feature.Possibly handy for work were you either dont know your tool well enough or you dont have the time to check all of your work. also if you have to check to see if you stripped a screw or if youve sunk a screw too deep .
  2. Ive had two compact m18 milwaukee red lithium batteries fail on me after 4 months of use. I rarely used them considering i have more XC batteries.maybe 40 charges all together and they cut out and wouldnt charge. I called milwaukee they told to send them in with my own money and that it would take 2 months to get them back to me. When they recieved they called me and told that sawdust on the outside suggested abuse on the batteries and they denied me warranty service. My makita lithium ion batteries all made it to a 6 year mark after a ton of use and charging and two out of the 4 wont charge anymore a good run for the money tho but i have heard locally that any exposure to moisture will kill a makita battery but they say that milwaukee, bosch and other batteries arent affected by the moisture. Hows the battery life on your 18v metabo impact driver? my milwaukee one is starting to die out thinking about switching....
  3. Out of curiosity and being in need of advice on a replacement m12 impact. Are the red lithium bare tools more powerfull than the non red lithium bare tools from milwaukee? or are they basically the same?
  4. A fellow freind of mine and carpenter of over 30 years has used ryobi cordless for a while and the nicad batteries replacement(lithium ion ryobi) work great for him.he uses an impact driver to drive timber screws from 6 inches to 12 inches atleast 3 - 4 days out of week with great results. If milwauke hadnt launched the m18 and m18 fuel line i would of probably picked ryobi for budget reasons and for a decent level of quality for a fair price.my only gripe about ryobi lithium ion is that its 80 dallors on amazom.com for one of their 2.4 amp hour batteries. But for my 3.0 milwauke m18 battery local its only 75 including tax. For a clash of quality levels it dosent seem right lol.
  5. When i first started carpentry work part time around 14 i took 35 dallors i earned at 7$ and hour and bought a skil jigsaw.I tried every brand of blade in that jig saw and everytime id be half way through a cut the blad would fall out.Whenever i would cut hard would(with a new blade) the motor would smoke all the way through the cut. I ended up donating to goodwill. If i had an enemy i would even recommend a skil jigsaw to them. And as far as harbor freight tools go i can only recommend buying zip ties and biscut jointer biscuts from them.
