Tools & Stuff
A question from down under: I have heard Americans say that Makita have cheap tools and good tools all under the Makita branding and customers are left to work out which are the good ones. True. But my question is, Do Makita have "Budget" ranges in the states such as SSP and Maktec like we do in New Zealand and Australia? DR99
The Makita white color tools in the USA tend to be the entry level tools where the teal is "contractor" grade.
Tools & Stuff
The white ones were only briefly available here. But we have Maktec which is orange and more like older Makita stuff and only available at certain retailers. SSP (Simple Solid Power) which are green and just basic solid tools. And now Makita MT which is also green and are tools with just basic functions aimed at home owners.
jeffmcmillan
We don't have SSP maktec or MT in stores, (their industrial line for assembly lines is a whole different story). One thing about america is people look at the bells and whistles before they look at general performance, especially when looking for something cheap, so those lines wouldn't do well here.
