Kato Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 To the pro electricians on the forum...what's a typical cost and what kind of pain in the ass it is to upgrade from 100-amp service to 200-amp service for the home. Thanks for any info. Quote
regopit Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 it depends Most guys I know charge between $1,500 and $3,200 around here where I live. I have no clue what they would charge in Chicago. Quote
DPSElias Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 I just paid $1800 to upgrade my 100A service to a 200A circuit breaker serviceSent from my iPad using Tapatalk Quote
KnarlyCarl Posted December 5, 2016 Report Posted December 5, 2016 Not pro electrician technically, but we've upgraded quite few homes to new 200A panels. We're able to because no permits or inspections are required, my boss decided to undertake a few and it kind of went from there. Really, i'd prefer if inspections were required, and we get back on track to the normal schedule, and let the licensed electrician take care of that, but it has become rather common so we keep doing them lol It's usually a little over $2000 depending if we need to pull new service wire from the meter box or not Funny, i just happened to stumble across these pics from july .. .. .. Had to bust the old service wire out of the brick.. .. 3 Quote
