Inside the Milwaukee Fuel Impact Driver - 2753-20

I used this while doing a lot of drywall work recently and it was white inside haha. I also like to tinker, so I pulled it apart. I found a few interesting things & learned a few things too. I have the correct security bit to take the driver apart but a few of the screws are a little stripped now -- does anybody know where I can buy a full replacement set of screws for this?

I did not like how kinded these wires were...

I also noticed that there is a security tag inside the driver... are they all like this?

Yeah those wires look a bit pinched. And security tag makes sense, bare tools are pretty small so would be easy targets for thieves. I haven't noticed one in my Sawzall I took apart but I may have missed it.

When I took a dcf 886 apart it's wired we're a bit pinched as well

I actually got this impact driver about 8 months ago in the $400 fuel driver and hammer drill kit. Soon as I saw the tag immediately thought about all the rumors you hear that "Milwaukee make cheaper tools for Home Depot and better/normal ones different places". I'd really like to know from someone who bought their impact driver NOT at Home Depot if they have the same internals and tag.

Yeah it's kind of scary since this is the first time this has Ever come apart from the factory and I pretty much baby the thing, but the wires are pretty darn pinched and a lot of the screws were really over torqued!

OK, so i think i answered my question about the security tags.  But would still like to see pics & hear from someone who did Not buy at HD.  I took this screen grab from a random video i just saw.  So it looks like the imapct driver comes with it or this was also from HD.

Dude, your in luck my friend. I have the same drill, but I bought it from another small tool store here in Hawaii. I'll post a picture as soon as I crack it open

 

update: shucks, i don't have the correct security torx to open it

Tim, I've taken a lot of tools apart growing up from Bosch, Delta and Makita and DeWalt etc..... They all have pinched wires(insulation). I always assumed it was to keep them secure and eliminate the possibility of vibration causing them to rub through. Never gave it a thought otherwise, I believe it's completely intentional from the factory

I agree, same with laptop computers they have pitched wires in area's as well when assembled, and it is so they don't have movement to rub and become broke/bare...

Yes I hate trying to figure out where the wires go. Now I take a picture of the wiring so now its a easy to put back together

Oh I thought it was a lot of drywall,  a few sheets I wouldn't mind taping behind an impact. A whole house not so much.

Haha got me good! ? I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to get a Milwaukee screw gun. But I also wouldn't be against getting a corded one for home all the more I would use it...
