Dewalt 36V DC300K circular saw and DCB361 Battery

My original A123 36 volt batteries are kaput. Is it worth it to buy a 2 ah DCB361? Has anyone run the new batteries in the 7 1/4" circular saw. The runtime wasn't so hot with the originals. I know I can get the 4ah batts from overseas, but the prices are unrealistic at this point.

Thanks!

Could always get a rebuild kit on ebay

A few years ago there was a guy selling rebuild packs, not on eBay, that were specific to which generation of battery you had, but he's long gone. I'm unaware of anyone that offers anything at this point.

the 4ah batteries are nice, but the price is kinda crazy.  may as well get a flexvolt saw and batteries.

Yeah, I know...The thing is I'm very accustomed to the left blade, especially since I'm more likely to grab the 6 1/2 most of the time. I have 2 DW364Ks for the heavy duty stuff, so I'm covered on the right blade thing.

So, did you ever try the DCB361 2ah, or just the DCB360 4ah?

Is there nobody offering a rebuild service where u are? Couple of places in Ireland do it, haven't had use for them yet lucky enough

Interstate batteries usually re-builds batteries.  They do almost all brands and voltages.  I would think the 36v is no different, once you break it open.

I had a few re-built years ago.  I wasn't impressed with the run time afterward.  Of course it would be better than they are now.  And cheaper than ordering some.

It's been so long since I've seen a 36v, I can't even picture what the performance would be, compared to a new 20v.

Ok.  Did a quick search.  The still sell them.  I had no idea.

The batteries:

I even found the saw kit.

That rumors been around so long I think it's getting senile

I think a lot of the rumors were because of some blurry pictures they posted of a "new" circular saw box that was almost certainly referring to flexvolt.

The fact that they released a compact brushless recip instead of full size for 20V makes me doubt it even more.  They really want flexvolt to stick.

i've tried them all. the original batteries camae with A123 cells in them.  then that same style battery case design came with different blue colored cells(forget brand).  when the dcb361 came out, it came with red battery cells(sanyo?) that had a higher ah rating, but dewalt to decided to fill only half the battery with these new cells.  if you open up the dcb361, you'll notice half the cells are just black plastic spacers.  with the dcb360, there are no empty spaces. they have twice as many cells inside vs the dcb361.
