eddie1976
I just got a 12" Kobalt sliding miter saw and was setting it up. The manual says use a combination square to check the bevel angle and ensure 45 degrees is true. Seems easy enough with the combination square. It also says check 33.9 degrees to ensure that is true. How do you check this odd angle with the same square? I have the two squares below. Thanks
albert.amantea
As long as you have the 90 degree stop and the 45 degree stop set correctly, the saw should be in alignment. Make sure to check both the vertical and the horizontal stops. I've never heard of trying to set a 33.9 degree stop ever. kruton
I would imagine the easiest way to check it would be to get your hands on an angle finder. One of the digital ones would be pretty slick.Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk

albert.amantea
Should be, but it's not.Search up"This is carpentry" + miter saw tuneupSent from my iPhone using TapatalkLooked at the article you quoted... It says nothing about checking and adjusting anything other than the 45 degree and 90 degree (0 degree on some saws) stops. It certainly says nothing about a 33.9 degree stop adjustment, as I stated. Thank you for the reference though, it's a great article. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Conductor562
I'm going through the same thing. Check this out:
comp56
33.9° is crucial for cutting crown molding using the flat method. if your saw is set up accurate you set bevel at 33.85° and miter to the right @ 31.6° then cut to of molding against fence, do it again with molding reversed and miter @ left 31.6° put ends together to check for no gaps ( you don't need crown molding to do this check.....) eddie1976
Thanks guys. I have the 90 and 45 set perfectly using a couple of videos on youtube. To my surprise, the saw was pretty close to square. Need to get the laser adjusted and I will be ready to do some trim work.
