Jronman Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 anyone ever seen these before? Would they an acceptable alternative to a dust mask? https://www.amazon.com/First-Defense-Nasal-Screens-7-Sets/dp/B004KQF9QA Andrew Klein use them for in his shop. He talks about them in this video 2 Quote
ChrisK Posted January 15, 2017 Report Posted January 15, 2017 I don't think that's a good idea. Get an RZ Mask or a filter mask. Something with a physical filter. Quote
Jronman Posted January 15, 2017 Author Report Posted January 15, 2017 Supposedly they go down to 1 micron particles. Those RZ masks do look cool though. Quote

Thinking of getting an RZ this weekend, are they comfortable? I've been using the paper style disposable, the type with the metal nose band, just need a comfortable solution 1 Quote

I use it on my atv and it works flawlessly, use it in the shop....the same. I use it getting hay and have a terrible hay fever. Works awesome! Actually it is pretty comfortable when you consider putting something on your face! 2 Quote
jeffmcmillan Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 Those are bs. There's a reason filters have a large surface area, and masks cover your mouth too. 1 Quote
JimboS1ice Posted January 16, 2017 Report Posted January 16, 2017 ill stick to my RZ mask as opposed to shoving something up my shnazz lol Quote
Atlas2000 Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 It would seem a difficult task to filter at such levels as stated and still be able to draw breath with such a low surface area. Quote

One thing I can tell you is the first one I got was a regular size the one that they recommended and it was a little tight. The second one was the next size up and it's a better fit. Something to think about. 1 Quote

rrmccabe Posted January 17, 2017 Report Posted January 17, 2017 I have not doubt I would knock those off on about 5 minutes. I can imaging not rubbing my nose or something. Not to mention I think the restriction with dust would just turn me into a mouth breather. Quote

I'm not sure. My guess is one would put them on before sweat starts but I still think they could come off. Quote
walterwho Posted July 2 Report Posted July 2 I bought these filters mostly for work because I deal with people who smoke, but still carry that smoke on their bodies and I can smell them a mile away. I saw these filters on Shark Tank and thought ok, not bad, but it occurred to me that our nostrils are black..not tan color?? These filters are claimed to be unnoticeable from a far distance, but up close, you will look weird. I think I rather wear a face mask instead. I think these filters would have been great if the maker made the filter black color with tan edging to blend in with the nose, now that would be not noticeable too much. Make the filter look like our nose hairs or something, not neccesarily sticking out of our noses. Also maybe make these filters like a dome shape where you can stick the elevated part into your nose. But they should be black regardless. Just look in the mirror right now and see what your nostrils look like....black right?? I am not going to be wearing these filters for work. I tried them out here at home and noticed that they actually lose their filtering power after a few hours of use. When you first use them you have trouble breathing, but I mean you get use to it or at least I think you do otherwise maybe its the fact that the filter material is losing its power. After a few hours it felt like I wasn't wearing them at all then I tried sniffing some clorox and could smell it...when I first put the filters on I couldn't smell the clorox bleach. The filters look very thin too. I want the makers of these to really consider making these black with tan trim and maybe a bit more thicker too. The tape is fine..it stuck on very well. I saw some other filters for the nose that actually go inside your nose and it has a little plastic thing that wraps under your nose and it doesn't look noticeable much, but the filter they use is like mesh stainless steel or something...doesn't look like they would work for smoke. Good try First defense, but your color is way off!!! Make these in black with tan trimming and I think we have a winner. And maybe make tape tan too not just clear. Hurry up please! I am dying of second hand smoke here. I have also checked others comments on the product and looks promising. I saw the news that this company it self has reached to a net worth of $50 million in 2024 Source: geeksaroundglobe. I don't think they will come this far if the product is bad. Quote
